Now you're just some poem that I used to write.
Anyways, I think I'll post one every few days/once a week. Probably keep me motivated to write more until I restart on my novel.
Here, have some poems:
-
01: always on my mind.
02: sustain.

fickle friends and foster the smiles
the two-toned laughs and double the trials
erratic, inconstant, everchanging
the days are young and and as hopeless as we are
stuck in the tenor of descanted math lessons
the glances stood out by miles.
call me yours and i’ll call you theirs
the words drip from your mouth like tears
go on
speak the high altitude speech that you do
speak the words i hear from you
tie your shoelaces and leap past your fears.
the wastelands i used to occupy
i never knew that in my mind they lie
whisper
i hear your voice down the spine of this book
of this page i turn and you look
sharp gaze and how dare you pry.
stop with these grins you send
pinstriped candy smiles and through those i bend
things have changed and you probably have too
but i digress
the weather is way past fine for me
this broken glass i can mend.
you are always on my
stop
rewind, reverse, replay
and make this ferocity go away.

sustain.
herein drifts the hopes of our nations
the future of our sons
and the days of our daughters.
let the voices of the earth cry out
withhold, withstand, withdraw
hold back the past
stand for the present
and draw closer to what’s ahead.
fingers, skittish, across the forehead of a child
wooden floors, they creak
the sharp voice of the sun
where has the night retreated to?
smiles, tender, across the lips of one
i hold your hand
you do not know mine
and this dance just begins all over again
doesn’t it?
tinker away with your little knives
clank away with your silver stabs;
but the world will not take me
will not take the scars it gave me
will not take the ones that fear me
but i will take the world
will take the promises it sent me
will take the small hands it granted me.
sustaining life;
these words are not enough
but they are the last
these stories are not enough
even for the past
these gazes will never really hold
but i will try.
and maybe they will let us be the ones we were
meant to be
and maybe they will see the light we were
supposed to let free
and maybe
just maybe
the waves will crash, salt against skin
in a memory of the future.
under the dim light
a young woman dressed plain
stops in a cold room
to hold the hand of a young child.
the child ceases its tears
ends its fears.
