People are going to ask for citations on that I am certain - if you give me anything you remember about it, I can help you find info to post here.

Yesterday:
I have the kind where the obesity is genetically inherited...it's hard to lose weight. I've been standing on 81.8 kg for 2 months now. And I'm eating more. It's hard to stop eating...
i'm in the same situation, though i'm unsure if i'm considered overweight. i think i'm "at risk" for it.

weight loss doesn't come easy for me, i've tried the exercise thing, eating healthy, and i didn't lose much at all, became discouraged and gave up. i'm trying again but i don't expect any difference in the last time...

Yeah I'm even going to a "nurse" who helps me lose weight. It doesn't help.

I don't know whether to laugh or feel a little sad whenever a whole family of fat people step out of a minivan or suv

This topic is quite opinion heavy! I'll step in a shift the conversation, I think.

As someone that could be described as "athletic", I actually have a very clear perception and a certain level of empathy with those who have trouble keeping weight off. Off course, there are those who simply can not maintain their bmi because of medical reasons, whether it be because of underactive/overactive glands, a bad heart (can't exercise), etc. Some have a psychological issue that leads them to overeat, equally as serious as tangible "medical" issues. Having an eating disorder isn't just a one way street (ie anorexia, bullemia, etc).

The ones that fall under that umbrella have all the reason in the world to be extremely frustrated with how the world perceives those who are overweight - it isn't fair, but that's humanity for you.

Of course, there are some who were raised in an unhealthy environment, and simply need the support to eat properly and slowly be introduced to a regular exercise regime. The hardest part is getting over the "no results" slump - losing weight the proper way is a long, hard process, and the lack of results initially is frustrating, driving some to eating even more than before. However, with support I've seen many friends turn their lives around.

I don't think this problem can ever really be solved. Especially not in children/teens. From what I've seen, if a teenage girl is over 110, she thinks she's fat. Literally, that is what I've seen from teenage girls.
I'm not sure what's going on in their heads, but they apparently think that they're either overweight or underweight and if they're overweight then they aren't goo enough and if they're underweight, they're 'just right.'
And pro-ana really isn't helping. Those sites need taken off the internet.
The weight doesn't matter, the health does. A person can be overweight and perfectly healthy. A few extra pounds on your body doesn't mean 'unhealthy.'
I'm trying to determine what today's views are on the 'obese' person. What's 'obese' today? Normal weight?

I apologize if I'm being a bitch right now, but I'm kind of actually wondering what today's idea of 'obese' really is.
