Look, we are all entitled to an opinion, so why don't we stop arguing and accept that our view of this song differ?

i dont like that Gerard says 'i dont believe in God' i know they hav never reely been tht type of band but they hav been about being there for others. in a nutshell this is not the way to go. im disappointed. any opinions?

Not to be rude, but surely you realized that he said "You don't believe in God", not "I don't believe in God"? He said "I don't believe in luck", and, if what one of the earlier posters is to be believed, that means that he believes in God, as he doesn't believe in luck.

I second you again. Gee is entitled to his opinion as we are ours, but he could have worded that in a far less confronting way.

Well, again, I don't want to be rude, but, you ARE aware that this is both Gerard Way and the rock 'n' roll genre that we are talking about here, right? Opinions are rarely expressed in a way palatable to all.

hey i dont want to argue over a my chemical romance song, im just trying to understand it better. i wrote those things a while ago and see some different perspective. i still dont stand by not believing in God but that is just me. everyone is different and Gerard had his times when im sure he felt like there wasnt a God. look dont take offense to my comment that was posted a while ago, or try arguing it now because yea now i see another side. thanks.

My Sweet Revenge14:
I agree with all of you about what it means. This song is so straight forward about the meaning to be whatever you what to be because people will always try to take what you own or simply they will try to make you feel less important in the world and this song is telling you that you've got to be strong enough to fight back to them but in this case they use the an awesome word to describe it all like DESTROYA!!

When i listen to the song now, what i hear is a rebellion against the common enemy regardless of faith. when what this person says is applied to the danger days theme i think it fits in with the "draculoids" and Better Living Industries. i watched many interviews with Gerard about his inspiration of 'Blind' from how society turns us into these robots who "never question anything" which couldnt be more true. i gess this song can be interpreted in a figuerative sense, as in danger days or literal sense of fighting back ¬ giving in to your enemies. there is this one part in life on the murder scene were Gerard says "YOU TELL THOSE MOTHER FUCKERS, YOU. CANNOT. DESTROY. ME!" and goes on to play give em hell kid. Destroya reminds me of that quote

I've heard about this song being anti-capitalist, which I can see ("If what you are is just what you own, what will you become when they take from you almost everything"Wink sorry if I quoted it wrong, I'm doing it from memory..
Also, there's that robot-angel-thingymajig called Destroya that's supposed to help take down BLind, right? (The Danger Days plot is kinda hard to follow but Destroya seems kinda like Voltron) This song could be about them trying to find Destroya, maybe...
All I know is that I have to pummel the down-volume button when this song comes on and there's somebody else within earshot :0

I just wanted to mention that in the comics Destroya was a giant robot that tue androids of battery city believed would one day come and free them from BL/ind. That’s what the “We’re all waiting for you” and “Where are you, Destroya” from live performances are probably about.
