Argh, why do people have to question that song? It's really, really good. Yea, It's tough but thats the point.
But everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so whatever.

I pretty much agree with silverrain. I mean, they have so much to offer through their music and I think Cancer is one particular song where gerard really took what they have and ran with it. Death is a hard subject to really get to the core of, like you said, and the fact that he does it so easily is something to credit, not critisize. those negative people r just looking for one thing after another to pin against mcr, they'll always be around Thumb down

I had a feeling this song might cause a strong reaction either way w/ people (esp. non-MCR fans). I too first hear this song when I saw MCR perfrom and made me all teary-eyed. However, I think it really is one of the song that endeared me to the band. It really shows the emotional depth of the band. It was hauntingly beautiful when preformed live.

I can definately see how it could be difficult for some to listen to . . . sometimes I have to skip over it cause it just breaks my heart. I like others don't know if I could listen to it if I someone I knew had cancer.

However, I can't help be reminded of the last season of Sex and the City where Samanatha got breast cancer and to an extent showed some of the unpleasant things that come along with chemo. (I will never say ths show truely represented what's it is like to have breast cancer because well it is Sexy and the City and things tended to be glossed over).

^ I see what you're getting at, porcelinajune.

Probably the main reason My Chem are getting some 'hassle' for this track is because they've been slated so much these past few years. I think it's getting to the point where people are basically looking for bad points in all that they do. It's the lowest form of ignorance, but that's just the way the world works. It doesn't really matter what these losers critisizing the band say, or think, or do, because we know that this song is just proving how deep and fucking beautiful our boys really are.

rewak:
I think Cancer is a really touching song, it hits home.

And was i the only one a little annoyed when i say the articles title?

nope, i was outraged! i wrote a nasty comment about it...

1. my chemical romance are NOT emo they are alternative
2. if stupid dickheads actually LISTENED to the song there would be no need for this article
3. it's articles like these which will attempt to make my chemical romance the next green day, in a sense of publicating them to the extent of stupid adolecent girls liking them only for their bodies and not their music - then strangely protective parents will rebel against them saying that they promote self harming etc. when they actually help prevent it and more of these articles will appear making my chemical romance a 'love/hate' marmite band as though to speak.

yes, i have extremely strong views about my faveourite band. as gerard way says in the song 'you know what happens to guys like us in prison': i wont go down with myself but i'll go down with my friends.
in otherwords, if i receive a email turning down this comment to be published on your news website i do not care, as long as media such as you realise what will happen if you carry on promoting my chemcial romance as emo.
thank you for taking the time to read this

I agree.
i watched a live show on tv and MCR sang cancer and gerard way talked to the crowd a bit before they sang saying stuff how it kills and stuff and that thios song is for cancer victims which i found really sweet of him.

the on ly good article i saw there was this one which im happy about:

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE frontman GERARD WAY plans to quit smoking as his New Year's Resolution - so he can live longer and perform better onstage. The rocker is convinced the bad habit is holding back the band's performances - and killing him at the same time. Way says, "I'm going to attempt, for the first time in my young life, to quit smoking. People will see me without a cigarette and they'll go, 'Holy s**t, this guy might live a little longer'. "I think I kind of have to do it. It's that kinda longevity of life that I need, and the big difference in air intake will probably make a big difference in the shows."

I can relate. It kills me every time I hear it. I have to skip it or I collapse in a sobbing heap. My dad is dying, he is having chemo. Im torn between wanting to slap them for reminding me and wanting to hug them for helping me. Its raw emotion and I dont know how Ill cope if they play it live Sad
