There are a lot of different ways to be a fan than having them save your life.
I have friends who have not had MCR save their lives, but they're as devout fans as the next person.

I guess MCR has 'saved' a lot of people in the sense that they've given a lot of people purpose and the fact that heaps of people can relate to the songs...
It sounded better in my head...

Let me rephrase that. They've saved my sanity. And possibly my personality as well. Not my life as in physical life...hmm...

I reckon way too many people say that MCR have saved their life.
I do believe they have for some, but it seems like because they said they want to save your life everybody's just like "They saved my life" with no real resons.

They saved my sanity and have helped me, but I wouldn't be dead without them. I just wouldn't be happy.

It doensn't matter if you think they saved you or what, as long as you like the music, the people, and you're not a teeny, you're a real fan.

That's just my opinion anyways.

It doesn't matter what they did for you, as long as you like them as a band, in my opinion.

Its ridiculous to say you're not a real fan just because they didn't save your life. If you love the music, love the band other then their looks, then you are a real fan.

They didn't save my life exactly (well, something Gerard said killed that evil little suicidal part of my soul but that's not really saving my life) but I still consider myself a huge fan. Like...Blink 182 never saved anyone's life (not that I heard of) but you can still be a fan. It just depends on why you like them, I guess. If you like them only cause your friends like them and you think Gerard's hot, then you're not a fan. If you like them cause they totally kick ass, then you're a fan, no matter what.

they didn't save my life... at the time when i was going through a lot of shit i hadn't heard of them... i got through that on my own... well... with other people's help...
i consider myself a real fan...
i love their music, and i love them for the people they are and what they've gone through...
they've helped me not to be as afraid of being the person i am... but they didn't save me

the whole "MCR saved my life" is amazing, it's really awesome. but everybody should stop saying it- cause it's getting way overrated. if they really did save your life, that's great but it should be personal enough for you to keep to yourself and your friends or whatever. don't come on here and shove it down our throats...

A lot of people were fans of the music in a "these guys are pretty cool" way before they realised the band was saving them(like me) and a lot of people discovered the band as a straight up way of salvation.

There's no mould for a 'real fan'. A fan is a fan if you have passion.

it's cool if they save your life, but if you just listen to the music and actually care a little about the band, then you could say, yeah i love this band!

I feel like they have saved my life, but I don't think they really have. Hmm :/ It's really hard to explain.
They stopped my life being so shitty. They made me happy, and a better person. Most definately a better person. Shit man, I used to be a fucking arsehole.
I love listening to their music and I would be a much different person without them.

Brandy Brutal.:
Okay, it seems everyone on here who is an MCR fan had their life saved by them, and that's all cool, but what if MCR didn't save your life.

What if you just discovered them, and was like, "Hm. These guys are pretty cool"?

Does that mean we're not "real fans"?

Do you have to have your lived saved by them to be a "real fan"?

what do you consider a fan?

no you dont need your life saved to be a fan.
a fan is a person who likes the band ,listens to the band.finds the band there favorite.
okai people who got there live saved by mcr that dosent mean the only people whoes lives got save by mcr are the only people who are considered real fans
if you like mcr your a fan!

i mean, they made me see that self harm is a really shitty thing to do to yourself, so it made me stop. i tell my mom when she freaks out when i don't go to my thearapy appoitments for 'help' and i don't take my anti depressents, that my chemical romance keeps the demons away and out of my life. she hates them, but my response to her is blow me. that doesn't have to happen to you to become a fan. i didn't cut myself because i thought that it would make me a better mcr fan, i did it because my parents openly blamed me for their divorce and everyone (including my best friends) thought that i was on drugs. famous last words really opened my eyes and made me see that there is something to live life for. that's all i have to say.

It so doesn't. They didn't save my life, but I'm a huge fan and anyone who says otherwise is a dim-wit. I'm just really into the music. I don't think you have to be suicidal to get it.
