I though that this drought is getting very serious and thought we should talk about it and plan some things we can do to help.

I live in the Virginia, and the areas around here are going into a major drought.
Actually, one of the worst ever.
Just in my area, peoples wells are going dry, whole creeks are drying up, lakes are way below normal and so are the rivers.
One major tourist things is our lakes for boating and swiming, and since the lakes are down and not able to boat in, businesses are losing money and their whole businesses.

And its even worse in other areas. According to my mom's friends, Atlanta only has about 3 months worth of city water left until they have to start doing rations.

Now, is their anyone else living in these areas or affected by the drought.
We need to start conserving until something even terrible happends.

Well, I live South East Queensland, which is in Australia, and we're in serious drought as well.
My town hasn't got water restrictions but alot of towns surrounding us have. Like Brisbane, for example, is on Level 5 restrictions. (I'm pretty sure)

They've also banned water skiing on the Buromba (sp?) dam, which is where we get our water supply from.

It's getting pretty serious here.

There was a piece on this in the newspaper today regarding a lake that is shared by Florida and Georgia and is used for oyster harvesting. I didn't read it completely and now I wish I had so I could comment more intelligently about it.

FL has long had water conservation laws as we have droughts and wildfires related to droughts every few years or so. We don't water our lawn, even in the dry season, because we feel it's more important to conserve the water. I don't know if we're going to be called on to assist Georgia and the other states affected. Either way, I hope someway is found to help those who are in need, although I feel that people should always conserve as much as possible, no matter where you are.

I live in the northern part of middle Tennessee, and we got it pretty bad. There have been a lot of laws put into action to conserve water, no washing cars or watering lawns, and some cities water supplies are practically gone. I'm thankful I don't live in Orme, because they are only allowed to run water 3 hours a day. But there's not much we can do except hope for rain.
