you people don't believe in aliens?
what the hell am i doing here then?
but hey, kidding aside, there really are no beings in this same galaxy besides humans and animals and plants. Maybe outside the galaxy, there is such a planet with life like earth but we'll never know.
In an estimated 20 billion years, the sun may bloat into a red giant and dry the planet up. I'm serious about it. So, personally I'd doubt the existence of other living beings. |

It is not 20 billion years, it's 5 billion.
The Sun is too titchy to become a Red Giant, it will be a Red Dwarf and the planet will freeze. (According to my Yoda-lookalike Chem. Teacher) |

With the sort of distances involved however, I can't believe that there will be any sort of physical meeting between us and other intelligent life.
I did recently read an interesting article in New Scientist about the possibility of silicon based life and such on planets in our solar system. Shall have to find it at some point. It's a fantastic article. Fantastic.
It takes into consideration that biology doesn't have to rely on the basics of water, oxygen and DNA. |

my sentiments exactly  yeah, i think it's just arrogance to think that not only are we the only beings in the Big U, but that we're actually superior.... al i can say is, if those creatures don't need all the many things we are dependent on (water, oxygen, a balanced diet, enuf sunlight etc etc) then i say they're the superior ones  |

I agree. If you don't believe that the Roswell crash took place, check out the history of solid-state technology from before as opposed to after the crash. Also check out the advancement of lasers, and the development of transistors...all after the crash. I don't see this as coincidence.
There is actually a mathematical formula that calculates the probability of extra-terrestrial life called the Drake Equation:

The Fermi Paradox is pretty much the mathematical conclusion of this formula, and negates the possibility of alien life. I don't disagree with this, but this formula would only apply if the aliens were in our galaxy, which leads me to believe that extra-terrestrial life exists, but outside our galaxy. |
