Burning Friend:
The Morning After pill is NOT birth control! It is a quick and easy method of abortion. The egg is fertilized during intercourse, thus, the morning after, you are already pregnant, making a pill that prevents pregnancy, technically an abortion.

No, I don't think there shouldn't be an age limit on buying, in fact, I don't think it should be on the market at all. Besides, I think someone underage should have her parent's consent on abortion.

...Not at all. In order for there to be an abortion, there needs to be a fetus.

The whole point of the morning after pill is to prevent implantation. That's why the timing is so important: implantation of the egg usually occurs within 72 hours of sex, not during. The morning after pill prevents a fertilized egg from becoming a fetus, so it's both technically and legally contraception, not abortion.

edit: i wrote this way too quickly and it's been a long time since my last health class, so i messed up on the vocabulary i used...fixed, anyway.

But...If there's a law that you shouldn't be under 14 or something, then they couldn't be able to buy the morning-after pill cause of the law.

but I think you should be aloud too.

I think the idea of setting an age limit is to show all the little girlies that the morning after pill solution is a definite out. Besides the condom, that's probably all that's out there for those who chose to have unprotected sex. The age requirement is probably meant to discourage also, the ripe old age of thirteen isn't exactly the best time to get to know the anatomy of the opposite sex hands on, that excludes actually having to learn about it from a health class or something.

Where I live there is no age limit on the morning after pill. And I personally do not think there should be.
I know many girls who've had to take it, but if there was a restriction on it, then they would take their chances, rather then having to tell their parents.
And I also know people who've taken it after being raped, and many of them would have to disclose why they were buying the pill, which they were not emotionally ready to do.
I think it's sad that 12 &13 year old girls are having sex these days but I completely disagree with the age limit. I just personally feel it would be a deterrent.
And I don't want girls to have to take that chance.

People of the ages 12 and 13 are having sex anyway, putting an age limit on the morning after pill isn't going to change that.
But it will just make them end up with a baby if they don't have an option to use it.

its illegal to purchase a morning after pill without taking a pregnacy test.
and they only use morning after pills when they do some kind of test.
I dont remember what test it is but when I remember I will tell you.\

I think it was wrong to give her the pill.
she should have went with the alternative and went to a planned parenthood.
My step mother works at one and she says that you do not need a parent with you.
But if that kind of service isn't in her area she is just going to have to deal with the consequenses of having sex at such a young age.

A child isn't a consequence. You're willing to say that a child should be brought up by parents who aren't ready to be parents as a consequence for the parents' actions? That's kind of twisted.

I'm pretty sure that's not true. Do you mean to check someone isnt already pregnant before the unprotected sex. cause:
1. I have taken the morning after pill and there was no pregnancy test involved
2. pregnancy tests would be useless at such an early stage. most are used only after you have missed you period.

but i might have misunderstood what you were saying so feel free to point out if i have Razz
