First of all, I searched, but there are many words for it so I may have missed it. If this is a duplicate, I'm real sorry - just block it. (:
Also, I didn't think this fitted into any previous threads, such as pre marital sex, because that can be done in a relationship and such whereas promiscuity isn't.
Okkay, enough rambling.
Promiscuity is generally known as having sex with a number of people without wanting a relationship with them.
I was just curious of everyone's views on it.
- Firstly, do you have a problem with it? If so, why? If not, why?
- Are there any advantages to it?
- Are there any disadvantages to it?
- If they always use contraception, does that make it okkay?
- As long as both people involved know it's 'no strings attached', does that make it accpetable?
And anything else anyone wants to point out. (:

But i guess that there could be advantages to it because you dont really have any emotional attachment to the person so that in some cases is good esspecially because there is no worry about thinking that that's all your bf/gf wanted.So no chance of getting your heart broken.But the disadvantages to it i would say is not having that emotional attachment at the same time because when you care about the person and love them then there won't be regret and you wont just be doing it just because.I actually was also curious about this and have talked to a couple of my friends about it. But you also have to think that now and days there is alot of teens and people in general coming down with STD's so its a good thing to know the person your involved with,which i would say is also another disadvantage to being premiscuos. Also using contaception is always a good idea but even then there is still the possiblility of STD's and preganancy.Hope that helps some of your curiosity!;] |

For me, there are lots of terms and conditions to promiscuity.
1. The reason why they are doing it.
I believe that doing it for pleasure is acceptable since many people wish to fufill their sexual desires when they are not in a relationship. However, doing it to feel 'more loved' is something that, in my eyes, is very wrong. People that do this have my deepest sympathies and would be better off seeing someone about their low self-esteem rather than having mindless sex making them, possibly, feel sordid and dirty.
2. Is contraception used?
If contraception is used in the form of condoms I believe this is fine as it not only prevents pregnancies but also STI/STDs. We have a growing problem with STIs with more cases than ever so we need to really address that and this can stop by promiscuious sex always having a condom.
3. Are they emotionally ok with this?
Even if both parties say they know what it is, is that always the case? A lot of people still feel emotionally attatched after having sex with this person. Not only this but sometimes there are other partners involved, unaware that this is happening. Obviously, this is not right.

There are plenty who just do it because they like sex, and I don't think that's a bad thing. But it depends on what age your talking about; obviously if you're underage it's a lot less acceptable, but i think if you're an adult then being promiscuous isn't necessarily a bad thing. As long as you are careful, and use protection etc., then I don't see why you can't be like that. |
