They dont really sound like they used to.
I think they're more mellowed out.
I like them being all metaly and loud.
dont get me wrong, I love their new stuff. It's just I like their old stuff more. what do you think??

If you're referring to like 'Desert Song' I absoltuely fucking love it. I do like the metal sounds of before and I'm sure they'll still do it, but I love Gerard's voice. And its nice when they step back and just let his voice dominate the song. But then again its more the lyrics then the sound that I'm concerned with. >.<

well. i wasnt only referring to "Desert Song".
Like, "Shut Up and Play", and "Dead"(I think its called (a song they played at SXSW) are really tamed down compared to their older stuff.

I haven't heard "Dead"... But I did like "Shut Up and Play". I dunno. I'm not sure if these are just going to be floating songs and actually have no similarity what-so-ever to what's going to be on the record. Ray said in LOTMS that his favorite thing about My Chem was the lack of genre their music held, they play hard and they play soft. I don't think they're going to mellow out. Frank's got waaay too much energy for that. JK. sorry..

I don't think they have mellowed out as much as they have matured in their musical stylings. If you listen closely to the music in Bullets, you see it's not every organized (which theres nothing wrong with that, I love bullets,) while in Revenge its alot more organized, and each sounds sounds different than the other. I think if they would have put out a CD, that sounded identical to their last one, they wouldn't have gained as many fans as they have, nor they wouldn't have been able to keep the fans they made. You have to re invent yourself in every CD, so that people stick with you, thats why big time bands can keep going for 20 or 30 years because they change (very little) to appeal to newer audiences.

And even though their new stuff is a tad softer than their old, they never lost their path, and still write music that appeals to them, not what appeals to normal, "pop" lovers. The write songs focusing on death, and dieing, and gave it a nu punk sound, something most artist in any genre could only hope to master. My friend is a big time metal head, hates MCR, but won't disagree when I say they came up with an original sound- a sound that fits them, and their mission- and doesn't sound like anyone else.

While everyone is trying to morph into clones of Fall Out Boy (Thats to the P!ATD, The Click Five, and Hawthorne Heights) during these times in rock music, MCR is doing the opposite.

And they aren't mellowing out at all really.

Jenni, I do agree with you I'm not saying that I hate Revenge or anything I love it. But I like Bullets more its more darker than Revenge. I like Panic! At The Disco alot though.

Panic at the disco causes me to harm innocent animals.

But that besides the point.

I actually dissagree, i think Revenge is darker, with a more happier sound- which is why i like it. While Bullets has lighter lyrics, with a darker sound.

I think the lyrics were more raw on Bullets, more sophisicated on Revenge. But I have to agree, Revenge is a lot darker.

They're just growing up and changing a bit. I don't want another CD just like Revenge or Bullets anyway. I want something new.

I agree. It would become redundant if their songs sounded the same as their previous ones. There are a lot of bands who I don't listen to as much anymore because to me, all their songs sounded the same. It's better if the songs change a bit to give fans something new.

I agree. All bands evolve and My Chemical Romance is no exception. I've heard Shut Up and Play and Desert Song, and i was thinking that i was the only one saying 'God, they don't sound like in Revenge or Bullets, but the song kick ass anyway' Rolling Eyes I haven't heard Dead yet

I'm very open about music, so I pretty much love everything that they've done, new and old.

I haven't head "Dead" yet either. Do you have a link for it?

Well, I love their new stuff just as much as I love Bullets and Revenge, but I did kinda notice that It was more mellow. I still love it soooooo much. But I do hope they still have some nice heavy and fast rock. (And like someone said eariler, I bet they will because Frank just has too much energy!)

I haven't heard Dead either, or Shut Up And Play Crying or Very sad

But I LOVE Desert Song. I adore it.
And even though though it's a lot quieter than most of their other stuff, lyrically it's still 100% them, obviously. Like people have said, bands need to progress or otherwise people will get bored. The guys would get bored themselves.

They played "Dead" at the SXSW show. So Im pretty sure its not on the internet for you little kiddies to hear yet. But im not even sure of the title... atleast I think thats what Gerard said... Im pretty much 98% thats what its called. hmm. Sorry for the confusion guys. But uh.. If you go to that MCR Media List Of Doom Im sure you can download "Shut Up and Play" for your listening pleasure.
