Just Past the Skin

Stop pretending to be what they want you to be.
No one's fooled; you're just kidding yourself.
Just because you don't like what you see
When you look in the mirror;
But not past the skin.

You try to pretend that you're the perfect for them,
But time after time, you fail them when it counts.
Crushing spirts, breaking hearts, without a second glance,
Back at the men who've fallen for you, only to realize
They hadn't seen past the skin.

Maybe one day you'll figure it out,
Why you can never let go; find someone you trust.
It's because you're too scared, fragile and shy
To let anyone in, and see who you are.
Just past the skin.

This Is Me Breathing

Two awkward kids
Who thought they'd do better
If they paired up; a team against odds.
It started like this, but became something more.
Then I first started breathing.

All things that go up, must come down
And I learned that hearts aren't exceptions.
As mine fell back down, and hers stayed untouched
I lay on the floor, not believing the truth.
This was me breathing.

In the end we always knew
It'd be easier to hide it all away,
Never say what we were thinking.
I'm gasping for air, but nothing comes in.
I couldn't keep breathing.

Months later I'd given up all hope.
Well I've been wrong but now I'm right,
This time I can't epic fail, I love her.
And for once in my life, it all comes clearly.
This is me breathing.

The Perfect Situation

One day I hope that we will be closer
One day I hope that I can help when it counts.
But for now, we can deal with the distance,
Because we love each other; can't wait till that day
Always dreaming about the perfect situation.

At times I get nervous; we're growing apart
At times I get worried; she's slipping away
But she never gives up, it's all from the heart.
The only problem is this ocean between us.
Keeping us from the perfect situation.

I love the way she goes crazy over nothing,
I love the way she can talking about anything
And make it seem interesting.
I love all her little quirks and traits,
When she smiles or frowns, with that beautiful face.
"We are the perfect couple
We're just not in the perfect situation."

Let It Pour Out [more of a song really]

My ears are open for you
But no one cares to speak
I've always been here waiting
You've never dared to share with me
The feelings, emotions, thoughts inside
That must be building up every day.

Let it pour out, vent all of your fears
Straight from your heart, through open doors
And when you choke out those last words
I'll be there to save you from this world.

Don't worry, I haven't given up on you yet
There's still hope for you and me.
Whenever I asked "what's wrong",
You just sit and stare back at me.
As the silence grew, we both realised.
I'm the problem. Our eyes fall down.

Let it pour out, vent all of your fears
Straight from your heart, through open doors
And when you choke out those last words
I'll be there to save you from this world.

And when it all comes around
Will you come back to where we left off
Afraid to get close, yet loving the touch
Of someone who cares, just as much.
Are we okay, or is it just me
I'll see you on the other side..

The doors are closing, you've shut me out.
Please don't leave now, I'll choke out..

Let it pour out, vent all of your fears
Straight from your heart, through open doors
And when you choke out those last words
I'll be there to save you from this world.

Let it pour out, vent all of your fears
Straight from your heart, through open doors
And when you choke out those three words
I'll be there to save you from this world.
I'll save you from this world.
I'll save you from this world.

i couldn't hate you even if i tried.
July 10th, 2008

you remember that one day just as i do
the day you told me we couldn't keep going
you wanted to end this for a while
as it tore you up inside, and you said
"i'm not sure i can keep on doing this.
loving you or whatever i'm doing.
i thought that i should forgive you.
but. i don't deserve what've you done to me."

in my moment of weakness i let slip that kiss
one swift action, yet severe as suicide
as it led to my descend into the night
as you raised up overhead and called down
"it takes two to tango but we were dancing different dances
loving different dreams, dreaming different thoughts
i just needed someone so much more different
i need someone to see through me; i'm scared."

i understand your pain and fears
i let you down at the worst of times
can't blame you for the mistrust and anger
as i read my thoughts through stained glass
and the prophetic dreams gathered at last.
i don't deserve someone like you, the perfect.
even though i loved your flaws and quirks
i know nothing i say can change the facts.

as the dark of night crawled in to me
you changed your tone and reached out your hand
as you grasped my wrist and i stared up at you
confused, blind with doubt and misery
"you've made me happier than i've been in years
you've been more than anything a girl could ever ask for
everyone deserves another chance; either way
i couldn't hate you even if i tried."

i miss you, i need you
i love you, i'm sorry..i'm sorry..
i let you down for the last time
should have cared even more
then you cried out "i'm scared.
i'm scared of everything.
i'll try to start trusting you again.
i'll do my best. it's just. scary."

when your yellow and my blue
finally reunite, join once again
green is created, a circle never ending
where we both can love each other.
"you're the perfect girl once understood
i'd have to be crazy to ever ignore you"

when it all comes down, at the end of the day
the only thing that matters to me is simple

did i make you smile just once today?

Wow, this is really nice. Very Happy
I love the emotions and how you've ended it. Great work! =)

Thank you. :] I can only write when I have alot of emotions built up.

The person I wrote it about said she loved it, though didn't think anyone else would because it was so personal. Those quotes were real, most word-to-word.

finally, a new poem from me. inspired by the girl i love, as usual. we're going through some rough stuff, and we've broken up now.. for the third damn time. i've never stopped loving her. here's to you:
-----------------------------------
perfect misery.

i'll be here for you
but only if you want me to be
if not, tell me now.
i'll leave you alone in perfect misery.

our paranoias stacked up high
while you smiled and "i'm fine"
you're not fine, i'm not fine;
we're not okay this time.

you just keep saying "it's not your fault"
hoping maybe one day i'll believe it
but if it's not my fault
then what can i do to control it?

we may fight with each other
and we may get mad at each other
but no matter what, just remember.
in the end i will always love you.
