Tribute to the Black Parade

Once upon a darker day
A child came outside to pray
To the midnight clouds of rain,
In case her hopes and dreams are slain.

Then within the next long hour,
The skies began to swiftly glower,
All noise ceased from the mountains to the bay
Then came the sound of marching, a parade.

The child bade her mother farewell,
The woman was sad, the child could tell.
That gauntly girl wandered to the city,
Her stomach gurgled, almost giddy,
And when she arrived, her thoughts stilled.

Bells were ringing, skeletons were singing
The remains of sweet splattering rain, forever clinging
To the child’s memory of this breathtaking spring,
The spring that began the start of everything.

The child heard the pleas the singer gave
And she hastily obeyed,
All the while watching, admiring the phenomenal Black Parade.

(Within the walls of the town,
The child had not known where she was bound,
As she followed along the Black Parade
That city had begun to fade
Into a home now new to eye and ear,
A place her mother had sincerely feared.

And this my friends is how it will end
So take the time to make amends
Lest the skies begin to darken
Their color dull and grayed,
To your ears you’ll hear a voice harken,
“Welcome to the Black Parade.”)
