The rings are designed for places such as lips and ears, where there's no tugging at flesh over time. Slave bars are a straight bar that sits under the skin, with a ring attached to one end so you can thread ribbon through it - These bars enable you to keep your piercings for a much longer period of time than with rings - rings will migrate, sometimes within a few hours, and you'll end up with nasty scarring. But you sound like you're doing your homework, so I just thought I'd post that in case you weren't aware (not many piercers I know are even aware of this fact, they'll pierce corsets with regular rings and just shrug and say 'surface piercings never last'), or for anybody else who isn't terribly knowledgable, but interested in corset piercings. Haha, I was totally going to say this if someone hadn't. Thank you bmezine.com x) But seriously. The scarring is really icky looking, for any rejected surface piercing. I don't know what I want. I think corset piercings are gorgeous, but I don't know that I want one. Funny thing is I've been thinking that I almost want an anti-eyebrow (and I have no idea why). But that would be a baaaad idea, my parents would never allow it.

I used it to convince my parents to let me get my eyebrow pierced at 16. How, you say? 'I can totally grow my fringe an inch longer, and then wear it unpinned so it covers my eye. Nobody will see the ring in my eyebrow, so I won't get in trouble at school!' They folded, and I got it pierced two days later. Ha!

I can't decide between a left labret or bites. For a second there, I was considering spiderbites, but I think I like the look of snakebites better.

Not all septum jewellery is a ring... a lot of people wear U-shaped retainers so they can be flipped up inside the nose and out of sight. I personally love septums, as long as the ring is quite snug under the septum, not hanging down near the lip like the stereotypical bull-ring - I think those ones look horrible.

I think I've seen pictures of guys w/ septum piercings that must've been like a 2 gauge I prefer the small, dainty-looking jewelry... for most piercings, actually. Good Septum (fits nice and snug under the nose, barely noticeable, small gauge) Bad Septum (far too large-gauge, hangs down way too low, looks like it needs a rope attached and the wearer should be led out to a paddock to while away a few hours chewing cud. Besides, it's far too obvious, I prefer subtlety) That's my opinion anyway... I do agree on the 'dainty' statement - nothing irritates me more than seeing, for instance, eyebrow bars that are three millimetres too long for the piercing and hang out, or huge rings in people's faces... it's about subtle sexiness, not attention-seeking 'OMGZ LOOK AT ME LYK I'M SO KEWL CUZ I GOTSA PIERCIIIINNNNGGGG'... especially on teenagers. Srsly, kids, nobody thinks you're cool with that huge bar hanging out of your face. Swap it for a little one that actually fits and not only will you look like you know what you're doing, but it looks a lot more attractive. Piercings for the sake of image and being 'cool' are lame. Piercings for the sake of liking them and thinking they're beautiful is not. ...looking at all these septum pics is hardcore making me want to go out and get one. But I shouldn't. Teh husband would punch me when he comes home for lunch. grrr lol sometimes I wish I were single again so I could do what the hell I want, when the hell I want. /off-topic rant.
