| samantha connolly In The Murder Scene Age: 30 Gender: Female Posts: 24519 | Life On Mars?:I'd have to wait two more years, possibly six if I end up going to college in town. |
| electric soldier sam Awake and Unafraid Age: 62 Gender: Female Posts: 11794 | The hole in my left ear starting hurting, and when I put rubbing alcohol on it, it started to burn. My ears have done this before, and I've used the rubbing alochol on them, and it never hurt so much. What's going on here? |
| mutiny! Killjoy Age: 32 Gender: Male Posts: 45 | I've only got my belly button pierced. I'm contemplating getting a monroe though. What do you think of Monroe's? |
| bloodredruby69 Banned Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 8293 | Mudkip.: You may have a small rip in the hole, or an infection starting. Flush often with saline solution and use the alcohol less, if you can. |
| electric soldier sam Awake and Unafraid Age: 62 Gender: Female Posts: 11794 | I'll try that. Thanks. |
| lux lisbon. Always Born a Crime Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 5826 | Does anyone know of a trustworthy place to get buy plugs for my ears? Aside from Hot Topic, I mean, cuz I haven't really seen what I'm looking for in the store or online. I've Google searched & browsed around a few places, but if anyone knows of a site or another store that's reliable, that'd be great. I just don't want to order something from some random place & end up getting crappy jewelry. |
| snow at christmas. Crash Queen Age: 36 Gender: Male Posts: 31690 | jenny; bad luck girl:This isn't cheap, though. But they say the reason why it's not cheap is because they try and get really good stuff and the prices match. At least that's as far as I can gather, because I don't know prices for most of this. And bmezine.com is good, so their shop probably is too. |

| Cigarettes And Suicide Bleeding on the Floor Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 1725 | samanthaHAMILTON:Hey, if you can wrangle a free/cheap piercing from a pro, go for it. Plenty of piercers I know do free or very very cheap work on their friends at home by simply taking a few spare needles (in sterile, sealed plastic, of course) and other equipment home, and simply sitting around on the couch with their buddies punching holes in them. The piercings are just as professional as if they'd been done in a studio, and as long as the needles, jewellery and other stuff is sterile and you keep it clean, there'll be no difference than if you went to a studio and paid to get it done. That way, you can also work around the age of consent laws and such in your area, without getting a bodgy-ass home-job done. Mudkip.:Cartilage or earlobe? First off, rubbing alcohol = no-no as far as I'm concerned. It may kill bacteria and infection, but it dries the flesh out so dramatically that it inhibits the healing process, and it'll take ages for your piercing to heal properly because the skin is too dry to grow new cells. It could be hurting for many different reasons - the jewellery in it could be cheap or made with a metal that you have an allergy to (nickel allergies are quite common, and a lot of alloys contain nickel), in which case the solution would be to simply buy surgical steel jewellery and swap it over. You could have torn it a little from, say, getting your hair caught in it or sleeping on it wrong, in which case you just have to keep it clean until it heals over, and to clean it without drying it too much your best options are saline solution or tea-tree oil. Tea-tree oil may be quite harsh, though, so try saline and see if that helps first, as tea-tree is generally better for bad infections, it kills everything. You could have a cysts, which is a little lump of skin from the outer layer of your ear that's been trapped in the tunnel and walled itself off. They can be painful, and can be felt as a lump under the skin, around the piercing. If there's a lump there, with no redness to indicate infection, go see your doctor as it may require surgery to remove. They're not deadly or contagious or anything, but the pain will continue until the cyst is gone, so get it checked out if you think it might be one. Umm, other than that I can't think of anything right off the top of my head, apart from migration/rejection, which shows itself as scar tissue and the jewellery sliding further towards the edge of your ear, and if that's the case you pretty much just have to take it out and keep it clean while it heals, then get it repierced. But I'd suggest not using rubbing alcohol anymore, and give it a little while to see how it goes. |

| Happy Birthday Jesus Always Born a Crime Age: 25 Gender: Female Posts: 5627 | My nose ring is super annoying because it's a nose bone so the end has the thicker ball on the end (obviously....) then the part that goes through my nose, and since my nose ring didn't heal too great I can't get it out. I'm going to try to heal it really well, and THEN get it out to change it. I know it's not infected, it's just really sensetive. Should I use H2Ocean, or any other suggestions... |
| The Rumor Awake and Unafraid Age: 29 Gender: Female Posts: 11966 | jenny; bad luck girl: Really late, but it's a good shop so it's worth a mention. I buy absolutely everything for my piercings at bodyjewelleryshop.com. |
| Cigarettes And Suicide Bleeding on the Floor Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 1725 | Happy Birthday Jesus: For noses, I tend to enjoy tea-tree oil. Stings like a bitch, but cleans it right up without being too drying. Just push the pin up as far as you can comfortably, swab the area with oil on a q-tip, and push it down so it goes inside the hole. I wear the pins with bulbs on the end (which, yes, is a nose bone), which at times can be difficult to get out, so just give it a little while longer to heal (it should take about 6 - 8 weeks since the piercing was done), and if you can't get it out, your only option is to basically go *yank* and reef it. It'll hurt a bit, maybe make your eyes water, but as long as you pull it directly in line with how it goes in, it won't cause any damage to the flesh, just stretch it a little temporarily (like most things, it'll go back to normal size in no time). Make sure to keep it clean, though, in case you get a tiny rupture along the tunnel somewhere. If you're buying new jewellery and intending to change it over, you'll probably get a tiny infection for the first few days after changing it, unless you have sterilising equipment at home. You can soak the new jewellery in a solution of water and household disinfectant, or methylated spirits, but nothing's 100% unless you have an autoclave. If it does get irritated, just keep swabbing it twice a day with tea-tree oil or saline solution (I prefer tea-tree), and it'll clear up really quick. Just beware that nose piercings tend to be sensitive forever, so if it hurts to change jewellery and the like, don't panic that it hasn't healed properly, it's just that there are so many nerves running around that area, and I'm sure we all know what it feels like to squeeze a zit on our nose and have our eyes water from the stinging - it's fine, just a little sensitive. |
