Btw, how much does a nose piercing hurt? Ever squeezed a zit on the edge of your nostril, and it made your eyes water and stung a little more than you would imagine? That's pretty much exactly what it feels like. But it goes away a lot quicker than zit-squeezing pain, so go for it, even if you're a wuss, you'll be able to hack it  |

end has the thicker ball on the end (obviously....) then the part that goes through my
nose, and since my nose ring didn't heal too great I can't get it out. I'm going to
try to heal it really well, and THEN get it out to change it. I know it's not infected,
it's just really sensetive.
Should I use H2Ocean, or any other suggestions...
For noses, I tend to enjoy tea-tree oil. Stings like a bitch, but cleans it right up without being too drying. Just push the pin up as far as you can comfortably, swab the area with oil on a q-tip, and push it down so it goes inside the hole.
I wear the pins with bulbs on the end (which, yes, is a nose bone), which at times can be difficult to get out, so just give it a little while longer to heal (it should take about 6 - 8 weeks since the piercing was done), and if you can't get it out, your only option is to basically go *yank* and reef it. It'll hurt a bit, maybe make your eyes water, but as long as you pull it directly in line with how it goes in, it won't cause any damage to the flesh, just stretch it a little temporarily (like most things, it'll go back to normal size in no time). Make sure to keep it clean, though, in case you get a tiny rupture along the tunnel somewhere.
If you're buying new jewellery and intending to change it over, you'll probably get a tiny infection for the first few days after changing it, unless you have sterilising equipment at home. You can soak the new jewellery in a solution of water and household disinfectant, or methylated spirits, but nothing's 100% unless you have an autoclave. If it does get irritated, just keep swabbing it twice a day with tea-tree oil or saline solution (I prefer tea-tree), and it'll clear up really quick.
Just beware that nose piercings tend to be sensitive forever, so if it hurts to change jewellery and the like, don't panic that it hasn't healed properly, it's just that there are so many nerves running around that area, and I'm sure we all know what it feels like to squeeze a zit on our nose and have our eyes water from the stinging - it's fine, just a little sensitive.

Under 16 you need parental consent.
If you look, you could probably find a place that'll so it without parental consent. I don't advise you to do that, though. |

Crap, now i just have to find a good place to get it done. Most places are pretty good with nose-piercing, so don't stress too much about finding the 'best' or 'most-qualified' piercer. As long as they don't use an earring gun (run a mile if they suggest it), and allow you to choose the placing of the piercing (they draw the dot, you say 'higher' or 'closer to the tip of my nose' etc), you'll be fine. =D No probs When you go to buy tea-tree oil, do your best to find a 15% solution (it'll say somewhere on the bottle 'Melaleuca oil 15%'), as it's much less harsh on the skin than a stronger solution, but still has the healing and antiseptic properties that weaker solutions don't. It may prove a little tricky, but you should be able to get it from a supermarket or drugstore - just ask a sales assistant or whatever to give you a hand if you get confused (because there are a lot of brands and strengths out there designed for different purposes - I found mine in the aisle of a supermarket with shampoos, soaps and deodorants - it's designed for first-aid purposes so give that a try). |

Haha I did that when I was 13 or so... I managed to hide it by walking around 'chewing my nails' if you get what I mean, and the only reason they found out was because my little brother saw it and ratted me out.
Damn him.
I took it out a few days later anyway because I didn't have proper jewellery for it and the skin was growing over the back of the earring. Got it repierced a couple years later and was much, much happier with it.
In other news, I think I'm getting close to convincing the husband to let me get my septum done!!! Our birthdays are coming up soon (his is June 2, mine's July 4) and I know what he wants for his birthday, so I said I'd give it to him if he let me get what I want for my birthday, which is, duh, a septum ring.
*fingers crossed* now I just have to hope that he'll keep promises, because if I give him what he wants for his birthday, and then he turns around and says I can't have a septum ring, I'll shave his eyebrows off while he sleeps.
Muahahaha.
Only problem is, a friend of mine got hers done the other day and now I don't want to seem like I'm 'copying' her. Which is ridiculous, because I've wanted mine done forever so it's not like I saw hers and went 'oh cool, I'll get mine done', but still. |

I mean, fashion statements are fashion statements, but God, think of the long-term - when you're going for a job in a bank at 27 and you have earlobes hanging down to your chin, what do you think your chances are?
At least with standard piercings, you can take them out and get just a little scar that usually fades to nothing.
I don't know, I know it has nothing to do with me what others do with their bodies, but I just think stretched lobes are the epitome of short-sightedness.
Besides, they tend to look pretty crap to me anyway. |
