brookaaay!:
Does anybody have any advice on how I can convinve my parents to let me get a lip piercing??
I always found that by doing things like helping out more around the house, and keeping my grades at a high standard and not getting in trouble at school, was usually good enough reason for my parents to allow me to get pierced. Eg, 'Well, having a lip ring isn't that big a deal because, well, my report cards are good, I haven't had detention in months, I've been doing extra chores, so as long as I maintain a high standard of behaviour, can I get my lip pierced for my birthday/Christmas.end of school year/etc?' Make a point of proving that having a lip ring has no impact on your behaviour, and you're willing to do things like take on extra chores or give up something you like doing (for instance no trips to the mall on weekends with your friends for a month, or whatever it is you like doing as a social activity) in order to get the piercing. Do your research and find out as much information as possible about it, like the risk of infection, aftercare requirements etc, and they might be more lenient. Check out my posts on the last five or so pages, they have a bit more info on how to convince the rents as well as what kind of jewellery to use and how to take care of them during healing. Those might help you a little.

i've been wanting a clavicle piercing so bad.
example;;
example;;
though—i'm just 15 so i still need to wait for 3 more years—i want to have it done professionally.
i don't think doing it by my own is a good idea.
waiting is better than suffering from some gruesome infections.
Surface piercings are super, super, super hard to do without a professional... thankfully you're aware there's a risk there and aren't willing to take your chances.
The examples you've posted here, well example 1 and 3, aren't actually clavicle piercings, they're just surface piercings situated on the chest. I'd definitely advise you get those done rather than the second example, which is an actual sub-clav. Sub-clavicles are the only piercings in existence that actually penetrate the body cavity, the thread goes right underneath your collarbone, up again and out the other side. There are very, very few piercers in the world qualified or experienced enough to conduct this sort of operation, as it literally is nearly as complicated as some major surgeries due to the level of penetration involved. That being said, I don't know where you live, but I don't like your chances of finding such a qualified artist in your local area. However, pretty much any horse's ass with a body piercing certificate and a bit of experience and knowledge can do a relatively routine surface piercing, so your chances of having one of those and making it work is much better.
Here's a page on sub-clavs that might give you a litle more info (here's another one with more pics), and here's a page on surface piercings to give you some comparison.
As always, make sure you're aware of aftercare procedures and appropriate jewellery (as a body piercing certificate is still no guarantee that the artist has a clue what they're doing, it pays to be informed before you go in there) and the rest before you get pierced, but then you've got plenty of time to educate yourself, so good luck Smile

I have two piercings in my ears.
I got my nose pierced at the end of the summer last year, but I had to take it out because it got infected.
I probably shouldn't have done that, but oh well..
I'm getting it pierced again, but on the other side, and I'm not sure when.

I also started gauging my ears and I got to a 6, but it didn't work out too well with my mom, and they closed up quickly. My dad'll let me try it when I go live with him, but he's not sure of te whole idea of it quite yet. x]

Annd, hopefully I'll also be getting my lip pierced, possibly a snake bite but I don't know how well that will turn out for my lips..

Also my cartilage, just not sure when.

Not too much.. ha. x]

Really? Blue bandaid? Interesting. I've never heard of that being done before.

Yeah, it is one of the standards of our health board.
Even if it is on a finger underneath a finger condom, it has to be that specific
type of bandaid.

I dunno, maybe it's just us crazy Canadians. XD

Mrs.Halloween:
^ i had to practically beg my parents to let me get my tragus pierced.
and now i'm stretching my lobes which they don't particularly like but i don't think they're going to stop me.

i'm waiting till i leave home to get any other major piercings [i think]. because my dad says i'm not allowed any more.

but if you're trying to convince your parents to let you get something pierced, i'd advise to research the piercing you want loads.
if you go to www.bmezine.com you can find stories and pictures of practically every piercing known on there, and there's loads of FAQ's to do with aftercare and even some stuff for worried parents.
once you've learned all you think you can learn about, lip piercing, in your case, you should try telling your parents that you'd like to get it done. do this in a calm, sensible manner, and let them know that you realise what it involves.
you need to show them that you're responsible and that you've really thought about the piercing.
it would probably also be a good idea to try and find a few reputable piercing places near you so you can name-drop places you could possibly get it done at, and maybe save some of your own money to pay for the piercing, to show your parents that you're serious about getting your lip pierced, and you've made an effort to convince them.

does anyone have any tips on doing salt soaks on a tragus piercing?
i have a small cyst around mine and i've been doing sea salt solution compressions on them and the cyst is almost gone but i stopped doing the actual soaks a while ago because doing it is extremely hard, and i end up basically just having to dunk the whole side of my head into a tray of the hot solution.

^Um.....excuse me?
They have nothing to do with having sex, unless your partner's body/torso was
rubbing against them, and there are ways around that. The only ones that really
concern sex are the genetallia piercings; all others are fairly easy to avoid.

Mrs Halloween - Have you tried soaking a cotton ball or small pice of absorbant fabric
in the soaking liquid and holding it over the area? That's the only thing I can think of.

Ooh, tragus piercings are fun... fiddly litle bastards.
As Ruby said, dunk a cotton ball (not q-tip, they're too small) in salt solution and hold it up against your ear, gently wiping and turning the ring a few times. Keep changing the cotton ball and do it for about five minutes, twice or three times a day.
Tragus piercings are pretty notorious as far as infections go, so if you're concerned about the cyst go have a doctor check it out. Cysts normally don't go away by themselves, they can shrink and then get big again, but they don't normally just disappear, so your choices are either removing the jewellery and having it surgically removed, or living with it (which can be painful, but as far as I'm aware, pretty harmless). Just be aware that most medical practitioners really hate body piercings, so tend to be fairly doom-and-gloom when presented with a troublesome one - if their advice sounds legit, take it, if you think they might be overreacting, take it with a pinch of salt and make up your own mind.

But, as I said, cotton balls or absorbent gauzy stuff should suffice for salt soaks, remember the solution should be lukewarm/warm rather than hot, as hot water will only serve to irritate the piercing.

Anyone have a good reason why not to get a side lip piercing?
(besides the 'they look bad' reasons).

I'm thinking of getting a double monroe, a unique piercing I've never seen on anyone else. And no, not on opposite sides, but right next to each other. It'd kinda look like this edited picture:

Well, tongue piercings do also if you're counting oral sex.

Suzi, one of my friends has a double Monroe piercing, it looks so good!
I’d get it done, if she didn’t already have it XD

I’m having this obsession with surface piercing at the moment, which isn’t good due to my lack of money.
I really like the ones that somebody already posted, the ones that are like on your chest (I can’t remember what they’re called though >.< )

I wanted to get my bridge pierced when I was older
but I'm not sure it would be practical as I wear glasses and can't wear contacts due to a eye condiotion.
Oh well.
