well i am Christian...but i dissagree with alot of the things the bible says.i makes no sense!!first,it says "our God is alovingand forgiving god." then it says that you are not allowed to this and that!i remember one of them to never envy any one!!!!!!and not to be gay!and what else?oh yeah not to lie!and also that no one is to worship a nother god or idol!and i have always wondered if god was such a loving a caring god as they say, then why so many rules?there are tn comanedments.and what about those people with no religion!!they basicly say that if your not Christian that you will go to hell!!!!!!!!and also i have always found it odd that it says that all you have to do is pray for help and god will fix every thing and yet when i prayed for my grandma to live for me to see her at least one more time, she died the next day!and when i prayed for my brother to stop drinking and stop doing things that scared me,he got completely wasted three weeks later and then a few days later he scared the crap out of me by brussing my arm and almost braking the skin with his drum stick, broke the back of the couch and later told me he had grabbed his 25 pund weight and was planning on throwing it at my head but then he stopped and put it away!!!!!!!!!!so i have had some rough patches here and there and am currently not going to church and only parying accasionaly.so im sort of not big on my religion.i am christian though.im just having some issues.

sorry it was so long.most likely only a few people will read the whole thing!i didnt relise it was so long! Embarassed

ya, i have a very religious family. but the bible doesnt make sense a lot of times. most of it isnt true, we are just supposed to know it means something, yet when we ask how do we know its true?? they either tell us faith or it was passed down. it makes no sense. and God started long ago when people didnt have the knowledge to know better. sometimes i feel that God and religion is just for comfort ya know?. yet ive witnessed miracles that prove me otherwise. and they were unexplainable, and trust me i have tried to explain them to myself. and there the only thing that keeps me doubting that religion is fake honestly. and i have to be honset if i didnt witness them id think it was some stupid cuincidence that we were just unable to explain at the moment but would be understood later on in life (like i do in most situations). since we only use 20% of our brains, that maybe these so called unexplainable "miracles" are just unexplainable for the time being, though could be explained later on.

im catholic, but a lot of htings confuse me.
i always wondered how god was made.
i still wonder.
whenever i ask my mom she says he was just always there.
then i would say, but how could he be if nothing was here.
its just kind of hard to wrap your mind around.
but part of the religion is believing without doubt even though you cant see it.
i still belive even though i am sometimes confused.

I'm Christian, and I've said it before. I abide by God's rules - even if people flame me for being anti-gay. Well, I'm against practicing gays. If you're gay and you don't have gay relationships, that's fine. Many gay men marry women and fight their homosexuality. It's a brave thing to do.

^This isn't the Homosexual Rights thread, so I won't bug you about that.
But where are you getting "God's rules"? Apparently the Bible, but I very much doubt you follow, or even know, all the rules in the Bible. So how do you decide which ones to follow and which ones to ignore? How do you know which God meant to last and which He didn't really care about?

I'm sorry, but how does anyone really know that God's rules are God's rules, and not someone else's?
The Bible is thousands of years old, so there are most likely mistakes or changes made in it.

That depends on what Bible you own. Some are made from exactly what the original scripts said, and others have been changed. That's why you must sometimes be careful when purchasing a Bible.

I honestly think It's almost impossible to live without doubts about that kind of stuff. I mean, scientifically, God doesn't make any sense! Thats why a lot of people get really confused (myself included).

Exactly; that's my other point. Not only was most of the Bible (New Testament, at least) written well after the fact, but as NotOkay22 said, there are several different versions - people went about and decided which scriptures would be put in and which wouldn't. Of course man has a heavy hand in the Bible. I think it's just foolish to believe that whichever version of the Bible you use is the Bible, the one-and-only, totally accurate, exact representation of what happened.

Ive seen a couple versions that were really good and accurate, and Ive seen others that made me laugh my head off because of some things they said. I was reading my grandmother's old catholic bible and It had like 5 extra chapters at the end, and they contradicted most of the stuff said in all the the old and new testament chapters. That made me laugh.

^But what do you mean "good and accurate"? How could you know? Just because something sounds right doesn't mean it is. I understand that that's the point of religion; having faith in something beyond yourself that doesn't neccessarily make sense, but you can hardly believe every word of what's written in any Bible. And all versions of the Bible contradict themselves all over the place, not just the Catholic version.

Sadly, it's true.
The Bible has to be the most hypocritical and contradictory book there is.
Which is sad, considering how many people all around the world put all their faith into it, and try to live their lives by exactly what it says.
"Love thy neighbour (but we'll portray Jesus as being white like us, we'll use black people as slaves and we'll declare wars in the name of God so that it doesn't seem bad)."
*shrugs*
It's happened before and it'll happen again unless people realise not to take everything so literally and make up their own minds once in a while.

I'm totally with you there. It's nice to see I'm not the only one who feels that way. I'm a Christian too, I've been raised that way in church and I don't really care if people don't like it and who dislikes my views about things due to being a Christian, although I do respect other people's opinions as well.

I'm not talking about a specific bible. I'm sorry that I worded my last post wrong. I meant the ones that are the most accurate. I personally have no idea which ones are real or not, but I do know that there are added chapters in some versions (i don't know which ones were added), and that they were written by, priests i think it was, many years after the original manuscripts.

Though I dont acutally know which ones are which, I have just resided in using the bible I was given in church. I will probably never know which ones are right, so I'm not going to go my whole life searching. It's pretty stupid and wasteful, but I'm just going to use the Bible I was given and hope it's the right one.

I don't believe in god I dont think their is a god I could be wrong and end up going to hell for saying that. I come out of a Christian family but I don't participate in anything the do with the Christian beliefs. I don't know if that makes any sense.
