What do your parents think about MCR?

the WTTBP video freaks my mom out. i don't really listen to mcr out loud when people are home. i do however ilsten to it in my car louder than any human being should . my dad has no idea what current music sounds like...

my dad thinks i shouldn't be listening to them because they sing about death and stuff. he's afraid i'll become dark and scary. i told my friend that and she laughed, i'm not dark and scary, except in the morning. my mom is tired of hearing welcome to the black parade. she doesn't necessarily like them, but she's accepted the fact that i do.

mmk, the WTTBP video was just on, and it scared the hell out fo my mom!

my mother thinks MCR are evangelists (spare me the agony, and dont ask)

My dad thinks I don't notice him tapping his foot to WTTBP when it comes on the radio, hehe

Okay... this is getting weird.
First my dad gets mad b/c WTTBP video came on, and I didn't tell him. My mom had to explain that it was the end of the video.
Then, I teased him saying it was on #1 countdown: viewer's choice on fuse last night, but I didn't wake him b/c he was asleep.
Just now, I heard "Liar" by TBS on his TV, so I ask him what he is doing, and he was like, "#1 Countdown was on, so I wanted to see if the video was on." He's planning on waiting for it to play... This is just weird.

Oh, he also was put out because I didn't tell him that MCR is playing Chicago again on the 15th because I leave for basic the 12th. He was like, "I would have gone!"

parents hate them, it's rather funny

My mom likes them. She's not a fan but that's the only band she doesn't mind listening to in the car with me. I think the reason why she likes them is because they helped me come out of a two year state of depression.

My dad likes Helena and some of the other songs off Three Cheers. He thinks the chorus of Welcome To the Black Parade sounds likes something by a boyband.

Hmm..my parents know I'm going to their concert. They don't really know the music. Though to let me go to their concert I assured my mother that it wasn't a hardcore/death metal show, lol. I told her it was a rock concert, which sounds much more friendly don't you think?...lol. And I told my mother that one of the song names is Helena (which is my name) and she was like "ooh "
Lol...any suggestions on what song I should play them if they ask to hear their music? Something not so rough, lol.

Haha, that reminds me...WTTBP video was on TV, and I had it up loud (it just came out) and my mother came home from work and was all "Please, Helena, turn that off...that's such annoying stressful music" hahaha

But I really don't know what they'd think...they hear a variety of different types of music I'm always playing while I'm on the computer from cookie monster growl death metal to mellow acoustic things and everything in between...they don't really seem to comment...

i know what it's like, my dad loves them and comes home every night saying that welcome to the black parade was on and he made everyone at his work listen to it. he also turns up the music video and yells at me to come watch. my little sister also loves it.

I don't think my dad is aware of my of my taste is modern music.
Thats proberly a good thing. I'm very glad he hasn't seen My Chemical Romance.
He is kind of homophobic, when he sees guys in tight jeans and wearing eyeliner and that have long hair he gets anoyed and starts talking about how they all look like queers. So I don't really think he should be introduced to the wonderful world of MCR.
My mum can stand some of the tracks from TBP, but she complains if I'm playing Bullets or Three Cheers. She likes the tracks like cancer, I don't love you, Disenchanted etc....

One I was talking to a friend about the nightline interview and documental about mcr. They said that they were in the small category of musiciens that remain true to there artistic belifs and my mom had just walked by and said.
"Well remember that they pay them"
grrr they are artistic!!!!

The thing about my mum is she tends to judge people on their appearance....like if she saw MCR on tv or saw one of their videos or something she'd see that they were 'emo' and automatically think "Aaahh they must be a scary heavy rock band!!" lol she wouldnt think that their music might actually be good! (well, i know she wouldnt think it was, but thats not the point). Its really annoying!
