Ugh. This really needs to stop, this stereotypical tagging of 'emo' kids as suicidal self-harmers. You can't make that kind of generalisation about a group of people, its not right. And how can you say people self-harm to fit in with some cultural movement? Are people not allowed to have real problems these days?

And the fact they used MCR pisses me off because seriously, how vocal are MCR about the fact they are extremely anti self-harm and suicide?

Maybe self-harm is a problem amongst teens these days, but I can't see how a news report like that helps at all.

^ EXACTLY. And the people who DO self harm genuinely have a problem, and they don't do it just to 'fit in' with some kind of clique. People need to shut the fuck up and actually LEARN about what they're talking about before they make stupid reports like that. And like you said, MCR have NOTHING to do with the apparent 'emo' movement. Again, if people bothered to research or even attend ONE of MCR's shows, they would know they're against self-harm and they are all for HELPING people.

Articles like that are infuriating, purely because of the ignorant people who will watch it and believe it to be fact and the truth, when it isn't. It's awful because it will worry parents who have nothing to worry about.

Any TV broadcast that basically tells parents that a child who is self-harming is something to be afraid of needs to be seriously rethought.
And how can they trivialise any problem that leads someone to self-harm as merely a way to fit in to a youth culture movement? 'Advanced emos cut themselves'...what a load of ignorant bollocks. I know some people who have self-harmed in the past who have nothing to do with the so-called 'emo' subculture (which, to be honest, I'm not sure is even a valid way of describing it).

And to use the chorus of FLW, which is so amazingly positive and affirmative, in a broadcast like that, just proves to me that they really have no idea what they're talking about. Gerard would be horrified if he saw this piece of horribly ignorant, sensationalised journalism.

OK, I'm done ranting now.
Gggrrrrr.

I find it extremely ironic that they use Famous Last Words, quite possibly THE MOST uplifting song written by MCR, in my opinion, and label it as emo.

I was expecting I'm Not Okay. But hey, people are extremely ignorant, and like to base things off of generalizations. It's wrong, but hey, I say as long as we know what we believe in, then we're good.

That's terrible about the kid who went missing.
I hope he's alright.

He was really cute, by the way...

I'm actually emailing the news station about it right now.
That is just uncalled for.

thats is so ignorant it's pathetic!!
my parents are being brainwashed by these stereotypical views. They don't understand it. "THEY WERE BLACK AND CUT THEMSELVES" the most used sentence to discribe EMO and the most ignorant and dumbest!
I f they're worried about Emo teens then why cant they worry about "GANGSTA" teens!

Anyways WE'RE THE SMART ONES BECAUSE WE'RE NOT THE IGNORANT ONES. WE'RE ALSO SMART ENOUGH TO TELL THOSE PEOPLE THAT THEY'RE WRONG.

Ps. I hated how they used MCR at the beginning and i think I saw AFI too!
Pss. I couldn't be crapped to watch the whole thing.

Whatever, the people who created that video are probably failures in life. They obviously aren't good people, so they'll get what's coming....They always do. Three Cheers for Karma.
An idiotic friend of mine who desperately use to want to be goth, but now wants to be called "emo", gently scratches her arm, hoping she'll muster up the courage to start cutting. For no reason, her life is just fine. She's just following the trend. True story. No, really, it is... =/

^Yes MCR were on MTV2 last night and were interviewed by Ginger Bloke, I think there is a repeat of it tomorrow cos gonzo is repeated about 2 billion times over the weekend

The interview is on during the last half hour

Beware it is the most painstakingly hilarious interview ever

Yeah it was on MTV2, i just watched it and i am warning you all now, do not watch it, it absolutly pathetic, the guy that interviews them, 'ginger bloke' he is so rude, he insults them, he calls them emo crap a shit band and at one point i think Gerard cries, so if you don't wanna hear them get slammed, do not watch it.

um...people are talkin about this interview a few pages back but i cant find it anywhere can someone give me a link to it or something
