This is about human nature in general.
- What are your thoughts on it?
- Occurences of it that you encounter in your life?
- The effects of it on the world you live in?
- Etc.?

^Just as a thought, you might want to beef that up a bit. It can be daunting to post in a thread with little direction.

Ignorance and indifference are survival traits that all humans posess. The only difference between the people who stop to help the fallen or pay the homeless vs those who do not, is that those who stop have survival skills that are not as finely honed as those who do not. It is a tactic called disassociation, or just not seeing them. It allows people to walk right by the homeless, the fallen, the unfortunate, without so much as seeing them. By being able to do this, humans are able to ignore the fact that problems exist, and are able to live in a world of their own creation, with peace of mind.

Humans are, as a whole, logic bound creatures. The only thing wrong with that is the abilities of our minds to, when we are under pressure or in denial, twist the truth or the words of others to make it logically look to be in the wrong, which then allows us to put yet another spin on that same information and use it as fact and argument under the influence of our own logic.

Intentional ignorance allows people to believe what they want to believe, and as an effect, act however they wish to act, while still being under their own personal code of conduct and ethics. The real problem is that if a person does not want to learn, that they cannot be taught, and so will remain trapped in their own perverted imaginings, rather than face the real world and the consequences of their beliefs, actions and feelings.

Indifference is bred into us, and makes for a more comfortable existance. If we emphathize with those in need or in pain, we feel upset or angry, especially when we can do nothing to help. To make for a more neutral, righteous person, we began to ignore our empathy and feelings of sympathy, and focused instead on other things in our lives. This emotional crippling stops us from feeling bad, but it also makes reaching out and asking for help difficult, as we know that others are just as emotionally crippled and uncaring as we grow to become.

Just some of my opening thoughts.

I meant it to be broad for the fact that this topic is very open ended.

***I hope you can call a truce with me, I am sorry about the swearing and breaking the along with the post on the rules thread. I try my best to respect it.

Don't worry about it, it's in the past now. I wasn't being unduly bitchy, but I wanted to make a point. I'm not angry with you.

I made that statement because this topic is so very broad, that it can be intimidating. Some pointed questions, like "Do you believe ignorance is inevitable?" etc can give those meeker members of this board an opening, and the more that are discussing it, the fresher and more interesting the topic is to discuss.

Is ignorance inevitable? Why or shy not? Can it be avoided?

Is indifference something we can ever erradicate? If not, how can we minimise it's impact on our lives and our emotional control?

Are these things just part of us?

Can ignorance or indifference aid us in life? Are they worth the toll they take?

True.

I feel that ignorence and indifference is an inbreed characteristic of human nature that is in some form in everyone despite what you might say.

'How have you experianced ignorance or indifference? Yourself exhibiting it or witnessing it.

Okay may I please ask for someone to give me a better understanding about this topic? Are you asking us what are our views on humans ignoring others?
