angels_of_unknown_99 Killjoy ![]() Age: 29 Gender: Female Posts: 80 | the first time i heard it, i got this weird idea that's been sticking to my brain for a while, so i'm just going to say it... the part where gerard says "you're just a sad song with nothing to say" i thought was trying to say we're all messed up and when it goes "and if you think that I'm wrong, this never meant nothing to you" it seemed like "if you don't believe me, then life means nothing to you." *shrugs* are you guys following...? |
XxXTrueXHeartXxX Killjoy ![]() Age: - Gender: - Posts: 4 | Who knows What Gerard really wrote it for but himself . But I know that he wants everyone to relate it to oneself To me it makes me think of friends that went throught a whole lot. ![]() |
UntilTheEnd Killjoy ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 2 | Didn't Gerard introduce it as a song about dreams on the Black Parade Is Dead? To be honest, I find this song hard to interpret... |
xxsavedMmyClifeRxx Killjoy ![]() Age: - Gender: - Posts: 1 | i think this song is about the patient reflecting back on his life and how he liked the some parts of his life and how he dies in the end. he is also talking about how people where jerks to him and about all the dreams he had. i heard gerard say this song was all about dreams but this is just what i think the song means |
Incognito. Bleeding on the Floor ![]() Age: 30 Gender: Female Posts: 1209 | This song i find pretty easy to relate to but hard to put into words what i feel it means. uhm... i think it's about ill-, and kinda how crue people are to one another. Part of it i think is the paitent looking back with a lot of regret, ( I think i read some quote of Gerard to do with that) and how he thinks of all the shit that went on in his life and how he wishes he could have done some things he did differently. he sorta feels "Disenchanted" about it all |
Daft Fabulous Killjoy ![]() Age: 30 Gender: Male Posts: 157 | Well, personally i think this song is about living your life to die. If that makes sense. "About a life long wait for a hospital stay". It also seems to be about reflection on teenage years. (1st and 2nd verse) And possible about friends/girlfriends. Sorry if i make no sense |
Kyelinn Killjoy ![]() Age: 41 Gender: Female Posts: 27 | This song is so emotional. I love listening to it. In fact, I'm listening to it over and over again right now. Tbh, I can kinda relate to the song, but it's extremely difficult to try and put it's meaning into words, so I'm going to try the best I can on what I think it might mean. Now I'm not by any means saying i'm correct on this endeavour, so don't quote me. This is just my interpretation. And I also feel the whole song kinda has more than one meaning going between The Patient and Gee himself. Well I was there on the day, they sold the cause for the queen And when the lights all went out, we watched our lives on the screen. I hate the ending myself, but it started with an alright scene. This right here definitely tells me that The Patient is reflecting on his whole life. And naturally he would hate the ending, because...he's dead. It was the roar of the crowd, that gave me heartache to sing This right here really speaks to me about how Gee feels about his fans, the music, his band and such like that. You know whenever the crowd screams for him, he gets totally pumped. I actually watched an interview with him awhile back, I can't remember what one it was (I just remember it had a really annoying blonde bitch in it xD) and all the screaming fans got him all pumped up, and he came running and said himself they got him all pumped up because he normally never does that. lol Anyway, getting off topic here so let me continue. You know how sometimes when something really amazing happens to you and it feels so wonderful that your heart can actually ache, but in a good way? That's the message I got from that line. Aaand moving along... If I'm so wrong , how can you listen all night long? Now will it matter after I'm gone, because you never learn a goddamned thing. Now this right here I think is coming from The Patient and Gee both. I feel that perhaps because they'd been ridiculed most of their lives, and at times maybe they'd beg and plead for them to please listen, to stop treating them like shit, give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they listened to him, but let it go in one ear and out the other. You're just a sad song with nothing to say, about a life long wait for a hospital stay And if you think that I'm wrong, this never meant nothing to ya I think that The Patient is actually speaking this message to all those people in his life that have fucked him over and tried to mess up his life before he was landed in the hospital. Perhaps he's saying that they're just worthless nobodies anyway, don't know what they're talking about and eventually they're gonna end up dying in a hospital bed too, and if they all think he's being stupid or wrong, no matter how hard he tried to tell them this will happen to them someday too, they just ignored him or laughed it off, so it doesn't really matter, doesn't mean anything to them. Fuck it. I spent my high school career, spit on and shoved to agree. So I could watch all my heroes sell a car on tv Bring out the old guillotine, we'll show 'em what we all mean. This right here is definitely about Gee. We all know he didn't have it that great in high school. I got the "I'm Not Okay" vibe from this song, that Gee was seriously treated like shit in high school. Perhaps the same thing happened with The Patient as well? Then the part about the guillotine I feel they'd like to show all those people know exactly how it feels, how much it hurt the way Gee was treated. So go, go away, just go, run away, but where did you run to? And where did you hide? Go find another way, price you pay I think this is both The Patient and Gee. Telling all those people to just basically fuck off, get away from him. He's done trying to express himself and explain his fears, his pain, etc etc etc...but that karma's gonna come back, bite them in the ass and where the hell are they gonna end up? Either way, they're gonna have to pay the price someday for what they've done. So yeah, this whole interpretation of mine might sound shitty to you guys, but this is what it feels like to me. xD Please understand I'm not trying to overanalyze or say that I'm right. These are just the messages I got from the song itself. =) |
Frank Fuckin Iero Killjoy ![]() Age: 30 Gender: Female Posts: 24 | I think disenchanted its something like this. Live your life 100% each day. Remember every person only have 1 life, and you gotta live it 100% in ups and downs. ''I spent my high school career, spit on and shoved to agree, so I could watch all my heroes sell a car on TV, bring out the old guillotine, we'll show them what we all mean'' ^ that kinda describes a part of his life, and the way it's written I think it's like, he spend his life on something totally wrong. He didn't really 'live' it. I think it's what the whole song stands for. I'm not sure, but thats my theory |
Black Dawn Killjoy ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 28 | im not sure but i think its that life as at its end, and he has watched all his hero's and everything die. and then he is talking about his teenage years all the trouble he got into, and then a girl is with him and she is upset but never says anything, and how he skipped his school years to sit down and watch tv. and then the girl that hes with runs away because he told her to but he is wondering where will she go, but it doesnt matter because he ment nothing to her. |

BurpingTimmy Killjoy ![]() Age: 30 Gender: Female Posts: 2 | I think it's about Gerard's past life.. His good times and bad times such as gettingbullied at school,etc.. I'd say the rumor about it being about Bert would be a rumor.. |
ss_mcr-way49 Killjoy ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 6 | As said in the EPIC last concert of TBP Gerard says: "this song, is all about dreams... its called; Disenchanted" this song really connected to me in a way... The emotion, how he says "well i as there on the day, they sold the cards for the queen" almost as if he is standing by watching the world toll its events as he watches on the sidelines... He is confused, and loosing hope in the world around him, and how his music connected him with the world and its toil and problems its stirred upon him. How the world slowly fades away from him, leaving us in the dark as the lightbulb eventually burns out, the candle melts away... How the only way he can be heard is through the music, and the fans and fame. The stage, the limelight- the only way you can be heard nowadays... "if i;m so wrong, how can you listen all night long?" i think this means that in the limelight, or even at home, people will just believe him, no matter what he said even though it was wrong- so theres no clarity, no right no wrong even though thats all he's ever wanted ... i feel the same way, even tho meek little me isnt brave enough to put myself in the spotlight.. i can relate to the confusion and pain and how the world as we know it is dead already and nobody understands the knot ur brain is winding into |

LostInWonderland Killjoy ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 21 | Disenchant: transitive verb; dis-en-chant; to free from illusion or false belief, to undecieve Disenchanted: verb, used with an object; the past tense of disenchant; also an adjective; holding no misconceptions; negative connotation "This song is all about dreams. It's called Disenchanted." ~Gerard Way, The Black Parade Is Dead Generally, people are described as "disenchanted" when they are weary of reality and no longer wish to participate in life; it can result in many actions, including political/societal revolution, destructive behavior, etc. I'm new, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but my interpretation of The Black Parade has always been that it's a narrative about the Patient that MCR used to talk about themselves; therefore, every song has it's own duality in that it describes fantasy and reality. For this song, in particular, it's almost like saying MCR created The Black Parade specifically for the purpose of escaping reality, with which they were disenchanted. As far as the Patient is concerned, I view this as his reflection on his life, immediately after death, before he gets to Heaven or Hell or anywhere special. Purgatory, perhaps? Forced to watch his entire life and then proceed, disenchanted with what Earth had/has to offer? Because it really is a sad song, not just the lyrics, but also the entire mood set by the opening guitar. As far as MCR is concerned, I think it's still a reflection, except that they aren't dead (obviously). They're disappointed with reality; how role models never live up to standards (so I can watch all my heroes sell a car on TV), how cruel people are to each other (spit on and shoved to agree), how easily people lose themselves and what they believe in (we sold the cause for the queen). So, everyone's a "sad song", and they all whine about how MCR spreads violence and general emo-ness, but "if I'm so wrong, how can you listen all night long?"; someone obviously thinks they're right, or they wouldn't be so popular; everyone can empathize, or at least sympathize. I would say that's what makes good music; it can speak to everyone. About the double negative: "Well if you think that I'm wrong, this never meant nothing to you". Try saying "this was never unimportant to you", it's less confusing. I think he's trying to say that if you even bother to have a reaction to the music, whether thinking it's right or wrong, then it must have meant something because meaningless music would generate no reaction whatsoever. I also think he used a double negative for purposeful ambiguity. It's artsy and allows everyone to interpret it differently. On an unrelated note, I hate it when people use computer slang, misspell words, or use improper grammar; it further reinforces the opinion of the general public, which is that we're all uneducated, suicidal emo-kids who are so wrapped up in a self-imposed pity party that we fail to realize the beauty of life and society; it drains the gravity of the music and detracts from the appearance of the band. Do u want 2 maek em seem stoopid? Okay, rant over. |
venganza blood Killjoy ![]() Age: - Gender: - Posts: 1 | my friend wiggy said to me that she thought it was about Gerard and Bert's friendship...i thought it made sense: "we whatched our lives on the screen i hate the ending my self but it startted with an alright scene", "If im so wrong, (so wrong, so wrong) Can you listen to it all night long? (Night long, night long) Oh will it matter, after I’m gone Because you never learned a goddamned thing" , "And as we ran from the cops We laughed so hard it would sting" , "And if you think that I’m wrong This never meant nothing, to you" |
c1624 Killjoy ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 55 | I think this song i about how Gerard was picked on in high school. "I spent my high school career spit on and shoved to agree" A lot of people say that high school is the greatest, most magical, and amazing time of your life. And when you're in high school you're dreaming about what you who you want to be, what you want, and etc. I think because so many people are dreaming it was Enchanted. I think the Dis, because Gerard's high school life, well, completely sucked, so he wasn't dreaming, or being happy, so the song then became Disenchanted ![]() |
NJxMCRMY Killjoy ![]() Age: 28 Gender: Female Posts: 66 | I think the song sounds something like someone is put on the death sentence. (It was the lie when they smiled and said you won't feel a thing) Plus they run from the from the cops. |
dead.lola Killjoy ![]() Age: - Gender: - Posts: 2 | i dunno what the meaning is, but its an amazing song still! ![]() |
whereamI?? Killjoy ![]() Age: 28 Gender: Female Posts: 5 | I think thhis song is about screwing up in life and wishing you could go back and fix those mistakes and how differnt you life would be now if you hadent screwed up. I also think that the part "I spent my High School career spit on and shoved to agree so I can whatch all my heros sell a car on T.V." Is about how in both school and the real world you are always judged on your appernce, actions and attutude. And if your differnt in these areas than the rest of your evioment you will be riddiculed and mocked. sorry if my grammar sucks. ![]() |
