magda_poland Joining The Black Parade Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 213 | I'm straight edge, so I don't drink or take drugs (and etc.), either... I consider drinking as something which is completely not important O.o I don't need to drink at all, even during parties. I can have fun without that crap. But most of my friends drink to show how cool they are... Showing that they're brave enough to be completely wasted is probably the coolest thing for them... I don't understand people who drink a lot and get drunk, just for having horrible headache next day xD |
Biting Bullets Jazz Hands Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 362 | I've seen what excessive drinking can do to an adult, and i have to say I don't like it one bit. Underage drinking isn't any different. I think its an escape for some kids, or like magda_poland said, just to show their peers that they're cool. Its not cool, since it can destory lives. When a kid is drunk, he or she doesn't make the best desicions. It can have serious side effects, like if the kid has sex and gets an unwanted STD. And its no body's fault but his or her own. Also, how they get it- I believe one option is getting it from parents. All the kid has to do is mark the bottle where the alcohol's amount originally was, drink, then replace the damage with water so the parents don't even see the difference. |
druscilla. Bleeding on the Floor Age: 37 Gender: Female Posts: 1671 | What do you think about underage drinking? I do not think it's wrong for a parent to let their teenager have a glass of wine or a wine cooler on special occasions. But underage drinking is more than that and I think it's wrong. These kids will become alcholics. What do you think is the cause for so many teens to do so? Peer pressure. They think it's fun. It helps them forget. Stress. Pressure. What do you think the goverment should do to reduce the amount of people drinking alchol? The government can't really do anything. People will always find a way around the law. How do you think so many people have suddenly been able to pay, or get hold of the alchol? The internet. All you need is a debit or a credit card and you can be it online. It's much easier than finding someone over 21 who charges you a fee for it. |
zombie eyes Bleeding on the Floor Age: 37 Gender: Female Posts: 1056 | I think one of the main reasons teens drink is boredom, honestly. nothing else to do on saturday, get drunk with some kids. that's how it is here in the suburbs. my friends and I have been trying to start a free friday thing in our church gym just to give people something to do instead of be dumb. |
yoey962 Bleeding on the Floor Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 1262 | druscilla; in rags: that is so untrue. i mean, i get drunk with my friends every now and then. so does everone i know. just because i drink too much sometimes doesn't mean i'm going to become an alcoholic. if i did it al the time, then maybe you would have a case, but i think in most instances that is a total generalisation and does not apply. |
Vengenz Salute You in Your Grave Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 2982 | Here in Norway you have to be 18 before you can drink alcohol, but many places they don't bother to check if you are under 18 as long as you look 18. I have friends that drinks and friends who don't so i haven't really experience any pressure. I do drink sometimes, but i don't really get drunk. |
Cover Me In Gasoline Really Not Okay Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 600 | yoey962: I know but some people do drink until they become alcholics. I have some friends that get completely wasted at least twice a week and quiet a lot wake up in strage places. I think another reason so many teenagers is boardem too. Where I'm from there is nowhere for us too hang out with are friends and if there is, they'll be an adlt telling us not to swear, don't do this or that. |
druscilla. Bleeding on the Floor Age: 37 Gender: Female Posts: 1671 | yoey962: Okay. These kids can become alcoholics. The 25.9% of underage drinkers who are alcohol abusers and alcohol dependent drink 47.3% of the alcohol that is consumed by all underage drinkers. Recent Parent Teachers Association surveys gauge that 75 per cent of high school youth now drink, and that more than half of those have serious alcoholic problems. The average age at which Americans begin drinking regularly is 15.9 years old. According to research by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, adolescents who begin drinking before age 15 are four times more likely to develop alcohol dependence than those who begin drinking at age 21. |

xXtRaGIc_AffAiRXx Jazz Hands Age: 36 Gender: Female Posts: 356 | What do you think about underage drinking? its bad of course, but i myself went to partys at 17 with my friends and we also had a large supply of alcohol. if kids do it too much it can become more of a problem, but occassionally its not as bad ... although of course still shouldnt happen. What do you think is the cause for so many teens to do so? because they see other teens doing it, its promoted as being fun and cool on tv and in films [[generally]] ... its something that people want to be seen to be doing when other people they know are What do you think the goverment should do to reduce the amount of people drinking alchol? tis hard, if kids want to drink they will, you cant really stop them How do you think so many people have suddenly been able to pay, or get hold of the alchol? from their houses and their friends houses, and by being friends with people who can buy it |
lennyK Fabulous Killjoy Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 113 | I don't care. I mean, kids in Spain (or france) are allowed to drink before 21. I mean, maybe I've tried a teensy-weensy bit of alcohol before, but I don't see what the big deal is. What's stupid is how far kids go. They don't know when to stop. But then again, they could have alcoholisim in their family which would make it even harder for them to quit drinking at a young age. |
mirarle Thinking Happy Thoughts Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 492 | I think underage drinking is dangerous mainly due to the immaturity of the kids who drink it. Some people do it because it's cool/or they're bored and it become overexcessive, which, underage or not, is not a good thing. I know not all underage kids are immature and are smart enough not to overdo it, but you seriously can't say that for everyone. And one drunk kid (person in general) is always in danger of hurting themselves or other. So I'm guessing the big deal is 'rather safe than sorry' for minors, when they're still under parental jusridiction, etc. Adults can, ideally, make their own wise decisions. Rather than that, underage drinking doesn't really bother me. I've had a little here and there, and it really isn't any harm done, as long as it isn't taken so far. |
Stripey-Stripes. Motor Baby Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 804 | much like other things i think that if u make it illegal ppl wanna know why its so bad... im not saying that underage drinking is ok and im not saying that drinking to the point of passing out is cool im saying that if somene wants to really do it thay are going to do it and nothing ESPECIALLY a law is going to stop them well maybe a law might... but it hasnt yet |
ThinkxHappyxThoughts Joining The Black Parade Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 204 | Alcohol can ruin your life. If you try it once, okay, you know what it's like. No big deal, if that's your thing. When you can't stop, or are drinking every weekend, or every day, or you HAVE to have it, then there is something wrong. Also, not all kids drink because they mean to...the #10 reason that kids drink is because they don't know their drink is alcoholic. |
Frankie-Oreo Salute You in Your Grave Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 2818 | here in australia the drinking age is 18 i drink at parties, not excessively but just for fun, i dont think underage drinking is wrong, just as long as there parents consent and they arent too young. i had my first taste of alcohol at 14 at my mums birthday. it was a sip of wine. when i drink (which nis not often) i usually have 1 or 2 vodka cruisers (they are mixed drinks) my 17 year old sister drinks heaps HEAPS. i am actually worried about when she turns 18 and can buy her own alcohol. |
Flu Rescent. Killjoy Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 10 | Underage drinking... I think most people just drink... for fun really. I know alot of people in my school who drink and they say it's because they're bored. But I can think of other ways to entertain myself without waking up the next morning on the bathroom floor with a pounding headache. |
Frankie-Oreo Salute You in Your Grave Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 2818 | i dontg et headaches or get sick, my legs just hurt a little the morning after from dehydration it goes away after a while |
Blue_Demon Motor Baby Age: 40 Gender: Female Posts: 940 | I don't believe it's just because they are bored. It's also a way of rebeling against the system too, or maybe some of them are actually drinking to an excess due to family problems ect. Over in the UK like Australia it's 18 and over; though my older sister started to drink when she was about 15, however that was always at a friends house and she never drank to a hang-over. Though neither myself nor my younger istser have (though my younger sister does have a glass of wine at New Year now). But drinking has never been a major part of my own life until one of my school friends told me that her parents wer/are alcoholics; he dad is completely clean; but her mum kept having relapses, she'd be clean for about a month, and then she'd be back on the drink again. (I should mention that her parent's were also divorced.) My friend stayed with her mum due to school, but once she got to Uni she left; and then 3 years ago I learned (since we didn't keep in touch after we both left school) that her mum had died of blood poisioning due to the alcohol. Plus seeing someone in such a state that they would probably beat the crap out of you due to them being so drunk is a very scary thing to see. |
