There have been many rumours going around that painters have hidden or cryptic messages in paintings. One of the most famous artists is Leonardo Da Vinci.
A prankster and genius, Leonardo da Vinci is widely believed to have hidden secret messages within much of his artwork. Most scholars agree that even Da Vinci's most famous pieces—works like The Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, and Madonna of the Rocks—contain startling anomalies that all seem to be whispering the same cryptic message…a message that hints at a shocking historical secret which allegedly has been guarded since 1099 by a European secret society known as the Priory of Sion. In 1975, Paris's Bibliothèque Nationale discovered parchments known as Les Dossiers Secrets, identifying numerous members of the Priory of Sion, including Sir Isaac Newton, Victor Hugo, Botticelli, and Leonardo da Vinci. French President, Francois Mitterrand, is rumored to have been a member, although there exists no proof of this.
Also there have been theories about Mary Magdeline is somehow connected to these messages.
In the last supper it is believed that John, who is on the right of Christ is actually Mary Magdeline. And in the space between the two there is a M, or V.
The V is believed to be the 'cup' or 'chalice'. Mary is believed to have held the baby of Christ, so these things are related.
This is not the only thing, a dagger is seen held by a hand which we cannot identify who is holding.

Posts: 4290 | July 6th, 2007 at 08:18am There very well could be secret messages in paintings. There's secret messages everywhere else. This could be a coincidence, but it also could be put in there on purpose.
I saw this on the History Channel last year, I think. Saying that Jesus's children became kings and queens all over. |

I think there can be secret messages in paintings but it much just be the way different people percive things .

If i was a painter (Im not) then i would try to do a secret mesage, maybe the things are just trying to ilistrate the portrate and his feelings on it.

A did you know? Most artists were tracers, they'd use mirrors...hence why many people were left handed in paintings.
Most of the greatest artists at one time were severely depressed or gone through hard ships. You can go to art school for 6 years, have at it. The guy that orders a prostitute, shoots up herroin, and scribbles on his wall, is the one that expresses art work just as well. |

Posts: 31 | July 20th, 2007 at 08:07pm I think that its Mary. If you look at the whole picture, there is a space between Mary (or John) and Christ. It's in the shape of a "V" the V is a symbol of womanhood. People say that its a sign that the person beside christ is actually a woman, AKA: Mary.

When I went, they had a The da vinci code theme, and the narrator of our tape packs really pointed out the paintings and hidden things in them.
I didn't really believe in the whole Da vinci code theroy before. But it's more beleivable once you see it.
I think that he perhaps was trying to send out a message, if he didn't, he'll be laughing at everyone falling for his 'prank' |

So one person may see it while someone else may not. |
