Posts: 11966 | November 5th, 2007 at 11:38pm This sounds like terrible advice but sometimes it really works.
If you feel like your going to puke and it won't go away...go to the toilet and stick your fingers down your throat. A lot of the time you don't even need to get anything up, just your gagging reflexes moving into action can make the nausea go away.
That doesn't always work though, it does for some things/people...others not.
Breathing exercises are good too, if you start feeling bad then try one of these.
- Inhale really slow and completely fill your lungs with air, then exhale the same. Keep doing this and speed up just a tiny bit each time until you're breathing normal.
- Imagine there is a hand over your chest (or put your own hand on your chest...the ribs part in between your boobs and you neck) and inhale slowly and keep your breathing as even as you can and push the hand up. Think about how your chest is rising whilst you breathe. Imagine the hand is pushing a bit...the weight (or idea of the weight) can calm you down a lot and relax you.
- The simple breath in through your nose and our through your mouth in deep breaths.
All three of those are good for getting your oxygen into your brain and I do them when I have panic attacks, they might make you slightly light headed while you do them but you generally feel better afterward. |
