^^ bottom of page 58 on this thread Mr. Green (hugs, pixie-gates! good to see you again!)

Thanks, Morgaine. Your Christmas sounded a lot like mine. I think it was in the 70s in the day, down to the mid-60s in the late afternoon/evening. I wore a tee and a hoodie, and long pants, and just about died mid-afternoon, but was pleasantly comfortable after sunset at the show.

Our neighbors are *still* shooting off fireworks. We have a lot of neighbors who are celebrating 3 Kings Day today.

Beautiful mug. Just amazing.

And yea, this whole goddamn argument so so useless in real life... it's kinda funny too laugh at all the stupid people posting on those negative shitty threads.
This is such a wonderful, positive thread! It's nice to find fans that don't think Gee is an asshole now...
I've always wondered why some fans call Gerard Gee. Do you think he minds? And where did the whole MCR-Loves-Skittles thing even come from?

Don't know about the skittles thing...or even where Gee came from. I first came across it in a fanfic and for a long time I thought it was just the author who used it. Tehe

I think the Skittles thing came from an interview, although I've heard that it was a fake interview. Something like they were asked if they prefered M&Ms or Skittles and all but one said Skittles. It's a kick-ass candy either way and one of my favorites. (Unfortunately I'm neurotic when I eat them and have to do it in a certain order. OCD much?)

As for Gee I'm sure it's just a shortening of his name, like several people call me "T" rather than Tabitha, it just happens, and I don't really like Tab or Tabbie, so they go with "T". Gerard Butler has been quoted as saying he prefers to go by "Jerry" because Gerard is a difficult name to say, perhaps our Gerard has found that to be true and so goes by Gee. Nicknames are bound to happen, and Gerard is not a popular or common name.

Pixie-Gates, as for the tattoos, I'd love to get a wrist one, but unfortuately my job is a little anal about tattoos, and I'm management level so I *really* can't get away with it! In fact, my director saw that one and made a comment about making sure it was hidden at work. I just smiled and told him my next one was going to be on my forehead. Good luck when you go for yours. You mentioned a Lyn-Z tattoo on another thread, care to elaborate?

Lol, I eat sweets in colour groups, people look at me really strangely. I just have a horrible need to group things, for Christmas our house had a massive tin of quality street chocolates and I organised the entire tin into sections of different coloured wrapers *headdesk* It just looked so much better. Smile

I always wonder if the band would mind the level of familiarity we seem to have with them. Alot of fans assume alot of things about the guys and the way they talk is almost like they know them. Do people think the band mind at all, or ever get weirded out by it? I suppose you get used to it after a while. Smile But I don't know if I could handle thousands of people knowing me without me ever having seen them. What do people think?

The skittles thing comes from what turned out to be fake interview, and Gerard is called "G" by the band - that's where I got it from. Sometimes we just write it out like "Gee" - I don't really know why. The band is aware of our level of familiarity and claim to distance themselves from it, but sometimes I wonder, because every once in awhile one of them will give an interview and make a remark that appears either to be in direct response to stuff we've discussd, or an out-and-out admission that they've seen something.

That concern is the reason I created this thread - so that if they or those closest to them DO lurk, hopefully they'll come in here first and see that not all of us view them as participants in a real life game of "As the World Turns."

rolling on floor I eat in color groups as well! That's so funny!

Like what? If they knew what we were saying, you'd think they would be a bit more responsive, especially after the "fight" between Gerard and Frank on the 28th of August. So many people were concerned about the band then.

^^ but can you imagine how hard this board would get slammed with teenies wanting to talk to the band if they did? "zomg i kno they reed the bord cuz i herd it on teh MTV! i gots to go thr sos thy cn see meh and i can telz dem dat i lurves dem!"

Case in point, we had some issues with an obsessed fan on another board that was dedicated to a comic book endorsed by a well-known celebrity. She caused a lot of division among the comic fans because we all knew she just was just there to get to the celeb. He put his name on the book to help out a friend, and we constantly had to deal with people trying to get to him. It was hard to talk about the book because everyone wanted to talk about the celeb. Granted, he did post there, and a few of us on the board got VIP treatment at SDCC and so on, but his involvement wasn't the point, the book was. It can blow up rather quickly.

As for familiarity, the band can't put out a DVD of their lives then not expect people to feel familiar with them. However, that DVD is from a few years ago, so they've grown up some since then. Were I to see someone in the band, I would at least recognize them and say hi, and probably mention that I'm a fan. Beyond that, it would be up to them to initiate any other conversation, and if they did, I wouldn't expect them to be at the same level as LOTMS. It's the people that scream and yell and make up the elaborate scenarios in their heads that probably freak them out. A very good friend of mine reads about his own death online at least once a month, and he often jokes that he Googles himself to see how his health is, since fans seem to know more than his doctors do. He just takes it all with a grain of salt, and I'm sure at this point that MCR does as well.

For the record, Skittles *must* be eaten in the following order: green, yellow, orange, purple, red.

Just for my own sick, morbid curiosity, Deb -- do you have any links/quotes? I'd love to know what they think of this particular fanbase. Feel free to PM if you prefer.

I meant as a public statement...I mean, that wouldn't make sense for every little thing but for something that big, which could've turned out to be an accident or mistake.

Same w/ me on the skittles except I eat orange last. Tehe

Gerard is a very common name in Ireland, and I can tell you all that Gee himself is pronouncing it wrong. Mr. Green

Thanks for the well-wishes! I'm dying to get mine done, I just need the note from the doctor and about €80. I chose my wrist for them because I can cover it up with a watch or wristband. Smile

Oh yes, my Lyn-Z tattoo! I met her in November after an MSI gig in Dublin, and she signed my arm so I could get it tattooed. But I couldn't get a hold of a doctor so by the time I could get it done, it had faded and it wouldn't have been worth it. I'll be seeing them again in April so I'm going to try and get her to sign me again, and this time I'm getting my doctor's note in advance! Very Happy

As much as I am guilty of thinking I "know" the band (by which I mean that I think I can predict their character, just cos I've been following them for so long and you build up a level of familiarity with the way they act and such), I have to admit that were the roles reversed I'd be so freaked out. Knowing that people out there, complete strangers to me, were analysing my behaviour and saying things about me as though they were my best friends would make me feel really uneasy. I think you can be open with and embrace fans to a certain point, but once they get intrusive or start asking you things they've no right to, you have every right to withdraw and end the conversation.

Okay, I'm thinking we may have a little English oddity going on here...

Doctors do tattoos in Ireland? Bad ass. Here in the US we have the skeezy tattoo guys. Well, they aren't all skeezy, but they're just normal folks with apprenticeships and credentials. Certainly not doctors, by any stretch of the imagination. I'm sure they have like Bloodborne Pathogens training, but crap, I've got that, and I just work with kids. I don't tattoo people for a living.

And 80 Euros/pounds for a tat? (sorry, my American keyboard doesn't have a Euros/pounds symbol, only a $) Pricey. Ouch. Mine was $70, that's with tip. Dollars to Euros/pounds, with the dollar being so weak right now, that would be like half that. Eep. I guess when they're doctors, they can charge a little more, eh? Or am I missing something?

And just out of curiosity, can you spell out the phonetic pronunciation of Gerard in Irish? Gerard Butler (who I also adore, and mentioned above) is Scottish, but I've never heard him say his name, only Jerry. So now my interest is piqued as to how they say it across the pond. (and maybe I should add that the name Gerard is not common in the US. I always forget this is an international board.)

Wow, this thread was on the 2nd page of this topic, so I'm going to move it back to the front page, where it belongs! Be nice if we could get it to stay at the begining of this topic, like WAYT thread! How do we go about that?
It's not just my candy, but my foods are eaten seperately, My Mother always told me I was weird! First side dish then veggies, then meat, I even eat that order with soups, chilis and salads! Been doing this since I started feeding myself, LOL!

^^ You should eat the meat first, that way, if you get full, you can skimp on the veggies. Very Happy Not that there's anything wrong with them, but I like the meat better. The best part about being a grown-up is that nobody can make you eat your veggies.

I remember being forced to eat broccoli as a kid - least favorite vegetable EVER - to the point that I got sick from it. Now if I even *smell* broccoli, it makes me sick to my stomach. [/tangent]

Heehee...I leave the meat for last cause it's the best part, there's not too many veggies I don't like! Yep, I'm REALLY weird! If I didn't like meat so much, I'd be a great vegetarien! LOL

OMG. This really sucks man.
I'm at school again, still sick. I can't believe I have been sick for about a month.
But I'm not panicking since my mother is not better either.

I really need INO and MCR now.
Thanks MCR, for making such great music. It makes me feel a little bit better every time I listen to it.
