The new song is lovely, but I would like to see it fleshed out a bit. It seems quite repetitive. I know I'm not a songwriter or a lyricist, but that's just my opinion. Remember my favorite song is Deathwish -- which has no chorus and no repeating lyrics. Just saying -- it's a great start, but I think with some time and some reworking and revamping, it has the potential to be amazing.

And I admit, I do wonder, since Gerard has said on more than one occasion (see signature!) that his songs reflect how he is feeling at the time and the things that he has learned along the way -- what meaning does the new song (the world is ugly/but you're beautiful to me) have? What brought about this personal of a song? Where are they going to take it?

All questions that will be answered by the new album? (hopehope!)

Yeah, Tab, but remember, G always freestyles at first. Think of this as being in the same early stages as "Disenchanted" was the first time they busted it out live (then known as "Shut Up and Play." ) More than likely, by the time we hear it recorded, it'll be very different. That's just how they roll LOL

Oh, and the Animaniacs won at life. The Warner brothers and their Warner sister, Dot LOL Pure gold!

That's the first thing I thought when I saw the lyrics. I thought "Ahhhh it's another Shut Up & Play" Smile What was it Gerard said? Something like, that he wanted the song to say more than just the chorus so they fleshed it out, then we got the wonderful Disenchanted. (I still listen to 'Shut Up & Play' every now and again though...)

And the Animaniacs just won at life. I miss them, that was good children's television. Hehe. I Loved Dot, and Pinky. Smile

And this made me LOL, probobly a lot more than is healthy. It doesn't help that I can automatically see them in that situation against a back drop. rolling on floor

Remember waaaaaaay back in the day there was a whole compilation album of bands covering songs to their favorite Saturday morning cartoons?
Anyway, yeah... it would be cool if MCR did an album all by themselves of just covers of tv shows. Or fan favorites.

Hey guys *hugs all round*!

I was at the Download Festival and did in fact get covered in pee thanks to said bottling Sad

But, those vids make it out to be a lot worse than it was. It lasted about two songs, until Gerard, during an instrumental, caught a bottle and yelled "that's right, we're My Chemical Fucking Romance!" and the fans unleashed a mighty cheer! Most of the bottlers gave up at that point!

Tabitha, you lucky thing! I bet that lady's son is going to come home and go "you did what!" lol! But you win! As do the Animaniacs w00t!

Oh, man.. that sucks. I mean, no one expects to get a golden shower while at a concert.
Why do people even spend money on tickets to go to a concert where they don't like everyone there? Even when I went to concerts where I didn't like everyone there, I would never cause trouble. Some people just have no respect. They think they're so much better, but the truth is that if given the chance, they would probably shit their pants on stage.

I agree. They played Download 05, not headlining, and they were received very very well. There's a video of their performance in the MCR Downloads section of this site. People cheered and had fun and I think at one point Gee leant into the crowd whist singing. How can two years create such a difference in the audience? Because MCR had a very successful album? Because they got their first number one in the UK? Why do people begrudge bands success, but feel perfectly content to dance to their music when they're not as popular. Is it the whole 'nonconformist' vibe, "I can't like anything that's 'mainstream'," ?

Pfuit, it's not the band that's changed, it's the crowd. And they need to learn to respect people, whether they have issue with a band's music or not.

//Sorry for the rant, thread. It's just an issue that's been on my mind a bit. *hugs to thread*

xxx

That's elitest metalheads for you. I don't understand why some people think they're better than other people just because they listen to non mainstream bands, and there seems to be an awful lot of it happening, particularly amongst the hardcore / metal crowd. It seems that people are under the misconception that you have to "sell out" to make it to the mainstream. Since My Chem weren't so mainstream when they played Download '05, nobody was particularly bothered even if they didn't like the music. They also didn't have the whole "emo" reputation riding on them, and "emos" seem to be people that metalheads (along with most of the rest of society, but particularly the metalheads) blindly hate. MCR's music was also a little more punk rock back then, though I don't really think has too much to do with it, other than that it stopped them from being so mainstream.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not not trying to justify the bottlers actions. I think people need to learn to respect bands regardless of whether they personally enjoy the music or not. Bands work hard to get where they are, and everybody should respect that no matter what they think of the music. That really goes for people as well. Just because you don't like another person's style doesn't mean that you shouldn't respect them. Sadly, that doesn't seem to happen a lot either.

I think, one day, MCR should pool all their influences together and make a kick-ass metal album that would put all the bottlers' favorite bands to shame! However I don't think the 4th will be that sadly. Sad

It's not like they don't have the potential.

**I have that album of Saturday Morning Cartoons**

My favorite is Sublime covering Hong Kong Phooey.

Hey, Deb -- Shut Up And Play is the one and only thing I've not been able to find. If you would be so kind as to provide a linky, I would loves you forever.

Loz -- As much as I'd like to see the lady get her comeuppance regarding the "worthless comics" -- her son had passed away a few months ago so she was cleaning out a lot of his things. Like Karlie said earlier, maybe he was watching to make sure someone who would appreciate his treasures would find them. Who knows? All I know is, I got damn lucky. Oh, and keep an eye on your mailbox, I sent a little package your way.

And just so you know, Tara, thanks to you, I'll be going to bed with the Animaniacs theme song going through my head. Hey, I wonder if the DVDs are on Netflix. I wouldn't mind going back through that series.

"wata go down the hoooole! paper go down the hoooole! Wata come back!"
