| MCRmom Killjoy Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 91 | psychochip: Oh way cool, Psychochip, my girls (7 and 14) will be going to Chi-town, as well as one of our mibba friends and her younger daughter! Should be a lot of fun! Any hints as to decent places to stay? Orbitz.com is shortening my life.... |
| The Original Bob. Demolition Lover Age: 26 Gender: Female Posts: 16672 | AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. THE LAST ISSUE OF THE APOCOLYPSE SUITE CAME OUT TODAY AND I JUST FINISHED IT AND IT TIS AWESOME AND I IZ CHANGING ME SIG TO A QUOTE FROM IT AND IT IS AMAZING AND I LOVES IT AND AHHHHHHH. Dammit now I haz to wait for the next mini series... Tab, you got any recommendations for comic series (ongoing series) That I can pick one up now and not be lost entirely and end up spending way to much to catch up? anyway... how're you guys? Good going on the Chicago date!!! Send pics... No way i'm flying to Chicago to see MCR. Sadly. Tell me everything... several times. |
| tabitha Bleeding on the Floor Age: 43 Gender: Female Posts: 1831 | Bob.: Actually....um....I was a little let down. (*ducks tomatoes*) I called it on two counts, but a few of my questions didn't get answered. But Gerard is one sadistic son of a bitch when it comes to his characters, isn't he? Gotta love that at least. Maybe if I go back through and read them all in a row, I'll pick something up that I missed before? Sounds like a plan for lunch tomorrow! Bob, try Runaways. Get the Runaways Saga, which tells you what happened up to Joss Whedon's takeover, and you should be able to catch up pretty quickly from there. MCRmom-- I don't know of anywhere off the top of my head. I'm crashing at my friend's place in Lafayette, Indiana (we met at Purdue, she stayed, I moved to FL) but I'll ask her, maybe she knows of a few places. 7 years old and going? Are you getting balcony seats? The floor plan looks like a giant mosh pit. Boys, I cannot wait to see you again. You're going to be the bestest birthday present ever, the second year in a row. |
| MCRmom Killjoy Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 91 | psychochip: Hmmmmmmmm....well that's the plan anyway. We have presale tix so that's general admission. At Allstate Arena last year they let the big chicken (me) have a seat in the handicapped area. Then I realized I wanted to be where the action was.... We're trying hard to find a reasonable hotel (y'know, that won't be more expensive than really necessary). Rosemont wasn't too bad last year, but that's still pretty far from where I'd like us to be. I guess we'll see. We also have to coordinate with Shari.... |
| tabitha Bleeding on the Floor Age: 43 Gender: Female Posts: 1831 | ^^ on hotels.com they have the Chicago O'Hare Garden Hotel for $55/night. That's the cheapest I found. You have a PM also, by the way. I wrote it before I found that hotel. |
| MCRmom Killjoy Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 91 | psychochip: Seriously? Damn, that sounds good. I'll check it out, thanks!! |
| gazelles. Thinking Happy Thoughts Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 566 | I'm so glad that things are looking up for everybody! :] And to everybody who managed to get tickets for a show now -- lucky you! My mom tried to get presale tickets on Tuesday, and she was online on the hour (maybe a minute or two later, at most), but they were already sold out. I'm going to the Detroit show (hopefully!), and the tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10, so I have to rely on her to buy them again. Damn school. I'm terrified that she won't manage to get them, even though I'm going to make sure that she's on 5 minutes early thsi time. She got her schedule changed so that she could be there at the right time, bless her. Still, SO SCARED OVER HERE. I'm not going to let my cellphone go through all of second period hahah. /rant Bob, I feel for you. I live in the Toronto area too, and I'm really hoping that they come up here, but doubtful. ): Hence the reason I'm going to the Detroit show instead. And Deb, I'm sure they'll post some home dates soon. There's no way they'll do a last tour before break without a few home dates. :] I can imagine that the suspense must be killing you, though! |
| tabitha Bleeding on the Floor Age: 43 Gender: Female Posts: 1831 | Hey guys -- got my tickets today so all is well! Nothing could bring me down today! Although Ticketmaster can eat it. $40 in fees? Bastards. I hope they choke on it. |
| gazelles. Thinking Happy Thoughts Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 566 | psychochip: $40 in fees!? When did this happen? Last time I bought tickets from Ticketmaster (which was about a month ago), all they charged me was $2 service charge, and that was to have the tickets emailed to me. :S |
| tabitha Bleeding on the Floor Age: 43 Gender: Female Posts: 1831 | The New Song.: ctl-v from the order page: MUSIC Tickets US $33.50 x 2 Total Convenience Charge(s) US $10.85 x 2 Total Building Facility Charge(s) US $1.50 x 2 Additional Tax US $0.88 Order Processing ChargeUS $5.15 UPS US $14.50 TOTAL CHARGES US $112.23 Technically I added the UPS shipping because my printer is crap and I'm going out of state for the show so I wanted the peace of mind of having the tickets in hand when I get on the plane to go -- overnighting is way more expensive were they to come in after I left. But yeah, the tickets themselves were only $33.50. The rest is all fees. $10.85 (and note the x2) "convenience charge"? $5.15 for "order processing"? Wha?? Am I buying the trained monkeys their bananas? Are they printing the tickets on solid gold bars? It's all done by computer, and *maybe* they have somebody who physically puts the tickets in the envelope for a whopping $6 per hour. It's price gouging, it should be illegal, and I hope you choke on it, you Ticketmaster sons of bitches. But, I'm going. So, it's worth it in the end. I still would like to see someone take over the ticket monopoly and get it back to paying the face price plus standard tax. To show my age: the tickets for my first ever "real" concert, to see Nine Inch Nails in 1994, from Ticketmaster were only $12.50 each, with a $1 convenience fee and $1.50 s&h -- so with tax it was around $30, so less than the price of one MCR ticket, for two people to see the show. (of course, there were the long distance charges for the 30 minutes I was on hold with the ticket agent, since that was before the Internet was so popular) Inflation is a bitch, yo. (although I'm sure Debs can top me on that story) |

| Person0001 Always Born a Crime Age: 40 Gender: Female Posts: 5099 | Ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh please MCR update your tour dates!!!!! We are all dying to see some home shows posted! We haven't eaten, slept, changed our clothes or done anything all week! If you love us, you'll end our torture!! Frank, I hope you're alright Good morning, lovely thread people. <shields eyes from Suite #6 spoilers - my copies always arrive from TFAW a week or so later than the drop dates.) |
| tabitha Bleeding on the Floor Age: 43 Gender: Female Posts: 1831 | This is a spoiler-free zone, Debs. We wouldn't post anything until we knew everyone had read it. I wish I'd had your addy sooner, I could have sent you each issue on drop day and you'd had it sooner. Maybe next series. I haven't even bothered posting about it in the Gerard's Comic Book thread. I've attempted to start discussions about the story but people are so blinded by the fact that Gerard wrote it that they aren't putting any thought into the story at all. They're either complaining they can't find it, celebrating that they found it and giving it kudos just because Gerard wrote it, or are too busy looking for links to the band or the songs in the issue -- links that aren't there, as Gerard stated in the comicgeekspeak interview. **sits by self in comic geek corner, mumbling about people who have no appreciation for the medium, and just generally grousing about not having anyone to *really* talk to about the book** |
| Person0001 Always Born a Crime Age: 40 Gender: Female Posts: 5099 | Tab you so win at life for posting that!!! I loooooooove their interviews. |
| Green Faerie Salute You in Your Grave Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 2903 | Woot! I'm having a good day. *dances* Nice time at work, nice time at home. Rarely happens in my life. Hope everyone is having a nice day. I send my hopes that those dates get posted for your sanity Deb. If they haven't already! Sending everyone happy vibes. *hugs* |
| The Original Bob. Demolition Lover Age: 26 Gender: Female Posts: 16672 | Thanks, Tab. I'll get the Runaways next time I have money. BTW, my name is Sarah. And after teh Chicago show, find a computer and PM every detail. Which songs they played, what they wore, Frerard if there was any, pics if you have any, funny stage talk if there was any, if you meet them every detail... I can pretend I was there. Oh, and I happen to LOVE Billy Talent (the openers) so tell me about them too? Thankies in advance. Arghh... my internet keeps screwing up!!!!!! And the signed MCR poster i'm supposed to get hasn't shown up yet!!!! and i'm worrying my butt off for no good reason!!!!! But other then that life is awesome. Might be seeing Bon Jovi in March. Might not. Depends on parental insanity level. anyway, hope you all are having fun. |
| tabitha Bleeding on the Floor Age: 43 Gender: Female Posts: 1831 | ^^ Sarahbob (that makes me smile), I will do my very best to remember every little detail for you. I'll even get some photos of Billy Talent just for you. |
| JaysTrblMkr Bleeding on the Floor Age: 48 Gender: Female Posts: 1298 | AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! K, I've not been on the internet for sooooooo long, WOW, touring?! K how come Canada's being forgotten? Not everyone up here can get down to the States easily, I believe and I could be wrong, but I think the last time Our Musical Geniuses were in Calgary was May 18/07. I wasn't able to go, no $ We didn't get paid any extra for the inconvenience of running ticket master, dealing with cranky people who wanted THE Best seat as soon as the concert went on sale, we were competing with ALL of Canada at the Same time for the SAME ticket! You have a one in a thousand chance of getting the absolutely Best seat! Not to mention the promoters get first dibs on tickets weeks before a concert goes on sale and American Express card holders can buy tickets days before the on sale date, too! I think the convenience charge is for the promoters but our Rep. wouldn't tell me if I was right But on the upside can try and get autographed pictures still, a good friend still works at the customer service and just got me an autographed photo of Nickleback!! Sorry for the rant, I'll try not to do that again Well...Well Wishing Balloons and Prayers going to Frankie and his Family, again! I really hope he knows how much we Love him and Care!! Tabitha I'm am SOOOoooooooOOO Excited for you to be Seeing them!! I really Hope (and I know you will!) you have OOOOOOODDLES of Fun! |
| Person0001 Always Born a Crime Age: 40 Gender: Female Posts: 5099 | s Julie. I feel you, Girl. Currently, we are stressing royally here on the homefront as well, wondering if our dates will ever be added, and worrying our arses off about Frankie Tab thank you for that - I guess I automatically assumed there were spoilers and refused to read LOL I have PM'd you my address; that'd be great if you could help me out next series! I can go buy them at Forbidden Planet or Midtown Comics as well, but I like having the little bagged and boarded packages arrive in the mail - it's exciting! |
