do you think that the number of years that stands between people in a couple matter?

do you think that maybe there does need to be limits?

I think that limits are needed but in some states they take it way to seriously, in my state you cant date anyone 18 or older unless you are 18, i hear that some states allow you to date 18+ ppl if you are 16 (please correct me if i'm worng though)

but plz, i want to know what you think? what are your opinions on it?

well no matter your age, its still nice to hear someone elses opinion!
but i like this guy steven and we're three years apart and he said thats the only reason he wont go out with me because of the age law, he said that if the law didnt exist than we would be dating already.
if anything, all the state laws should be the same.

I dont think that it matters if both people are adults. If you are a 20 year old adult and you want to go out with a 50 year old adult then more power to you. Thats a 30 year difference. Now just because when your an adult you can go out with him doesnt mean that even though the year difference doesnt change, a 10 year old cant go out with a 40 year old. Thats just perverted.

I think that if both people are adults then age doesnt matter.

right, i understand that there needs to be limits, but every state should be the same with that law, because you cant help who you like or love and how old either of you are, so its kinda like saying, if you're born in the right place then it could happen, but if not than to bad. that part is mest up.
i think that if you're 16 and you want to date someone who is 18 than that should be ok

But what if someone who is 16 says that she loves a 50 year old married man? Should we let them be together just because they are in love? NO. Thats just wrong.

But I agree about the 16 and 18 thing, as long as the difference is small it should be ok. My boyfriend and I were together when he was 18 and I was still 17 (I had a couple months until I was 18 ) so technically we were breaking the law, but It really isnt that big deal.

^ agreed. me and my boyfriend are about 5, almost 6 months in age difference. I'm 15 he just turned 16.

i don't think the law has the right to say that if two people are together and ones a little older than the other by a few months, 1 year, 2 years, and call them a pedophile.

we don't have a law in the UK i don't think.. if we do i've never heard of it and people don't take no notice of it. I think if you're under 16 you shouldn't go out with someone over 16 as they'll probably force you into having sex or something.
In the end the its mind over matter, if you don't mind it doesn't matter.

It's up to the person I guess...
I mean, whatever the law is, or isn't in fact, it won't stop anyone.

You're allowed to date, but not to have sex with a person who's below 18
if you're over 18.

Well,I think if the person is 1 or 2 years older than you it's okay.
But anywhere above 2 years is a bit much.

I only think that because a lot of my friends have been with people 3 and 4 years older than them and they get hurt every time.

No Way! My cousin married a man when she was 21 who is 14 years older then her. I dont think that its a big deal if its under about 15 years difference. Anything above that might be kind of freaky, but hey, if your an adult then do what you want.

I don't think it particulary matters. If two people are in love, then let it be (Have I just turned into Paul Mcartney?!). I think that if someone is under 16, then perhaps they shouldn't date people too much older than themselves. It's illegal in the UK to sleep with anyone under the age of 16 for obvious reasons, but not everyone grows at the same rate, and some 15/16 year olds are a lot older than their actual age, and in these cases I think its for them to say, be with an 18 year old. Anyone over 16 can just do what they want in my opinion. Even if the thought of a 20 year old being with a 50 year old is a little weird, its nothing to do with me, its just a shame that one will most likely outlive the other.

I don't really find this to be a big deal. I mean, if you love the person, you love them. Despite age. My Aunt is 17 years younger than my Uncle, and they still love eachother. I don't like how people freak out over this. It's not a big deal. Love people, LOVE.

Well, let me just state that I wouldn't want MY child dating an 18 or older person when they are only 15.

in england i dont think there is a law against dating someone older unless your ridiculously young. its only against the law to sleep with someone 16+ if your under 16.
i dont think there is anything wrong with dating someone older then you, if they treat you right and you have standards and they understand them. hell im 15, and am dating a 18 year old. my friend is almost 16 and she is dating a 20 year old.
its our choice you know?

all love is love i dont think that it matters if you are 10 or even 50 years apart soo yeah Smile

I think if you are of legal age, you should be allowed to date anyone you wish. Because let's face it, if Alan Rickman showed up on my doorstep tonight, there would be no stopping me. To hell with the age gap.

If it's not legal, then your choices should be limited.

this is my thought:
if someone is under eighteen but is older than fourteen, date somene only one year older. when your in that age range, your able to relate better and have a good relatioinship. you can decide who you want to love. but the parent should be the one who can give or not give consent for their child to remain in a relationship when the other partner is eighteen and older. because the law says parents can decide what would happen.
if someone is older than eighteen, their should be a limit. someone can be up to fifteen years apart and that fine. but over that seems kind of awkard.
but that just me.
