What's your opinion?

I, personally, have no problem with it. If someone is suffering, who are we to judge?

I'm all in favor of medicional marijuana. I don't believe that people can judge whether or not it's nesecary until they're in the position of someone who would need it.

I'm definitely in favor of it. There are pain pills that have components derived from THC and opium, but the plant itself is a no-no? That makes no sense to me. I've seen people in that kind of pain, and personally I think that if their doctors think marijuana will help them, then they should by all means have it.

So you think it's okay just because you smoke it?
I mean, I do, but I also think that medicinal marijuana is okay because if it really helps people, well, then it helps people.

I am torn on this topic, because I understand that it can help, but I am incredibly anti-drug.

I believe that medical marijuana should be legalized, but HEAVILY controlled.
For example, I do not think a person should be able to go to a store and pick up a prescription of marijuana. I think that the drug should be kept at the hospital, as controlled as any other drug... and in the case of shut-ins, simply get them their medication the way they get any other medication- which I believe (when it comes to drugs that are a problem as far as people abusing them as a drug to get high from) is a nurse or a doctor simply goes to the person's house, also, most shut-ins who need a lot of medication live in nursing homes.

So basically, I do think it should be legalized, but heavily monitered and controlled by hospitals.

I'm the same way. Pot is just another drug that's done because it's now socially acceptable. Which i think is insane because when i tell people i drink with my friends every now and again i'm seen as an alcoholic. I think medicinal marijuana is a good idea for those who are undergoing any treatment for cancer. From what i remember from what i've read it relaxes the gag reflex so you don't get sick from the treatment. It's also a form of pain medication which is also a plus.

I agree with All_You_Need_Is_Love. It has to be controlled. If someone needs it for medical use they should have someone sent to the house with a dose and wait until it's taken. This would ensure that no other parties would be involved just to get high. If it was that person should have some kind of penalty or fine or some such against them. It's supposed to be helping them not their buddy who is having a bad day.

And just to clarify i'm not saying drinking is better than smoking. Each has its own positives and negatives. Medicinal marijuana is a good idea. But only for those who really need it.

No way! They have that for medicinal purposes? Why don't people tell me these things?
I'm in favour of it. Gives an alternative to morphine or whatever they use in those hospital places. I am also in favour of it's non-medicinal purposes. "If someone is suffering, who are we to judge?" I like that.

Marijuana used in medical purposes is heavily controlled and it's not easy to get the permission to use it. I think it's most commonly granted for cancer patients or others suffering from enormous chronical pains, and it has to be proven by several different doctors that nothing else works.

As for the idea for using marijuana as a legal drug, I'm in favor for it. IF it can be properly supervised and it's used as "the last resort". I don't like the idea of the legal use of marijuana spreading enormously as people are trying to get justification to a habit they've had for a longer time. I know that it can help, but overall I'm a bit doubtful. I'm worried that some people might take advantage of it.

I've never smoked it, but I don't have a problem with it, at all. My family on my mother's side has a long history of sever glocoma. My cousin Larry was blind for a time, before he had surgury. And the only reason he didn't go blind sooner was because he smoked Marijuana.

My grandmother is the same, almost. She's been smoking for a while, but her doctor knows she does, and it helps with her glocoma.

I'm pro medical marijuana, as long as the person using it is responsible.

There are a lot of heavily controlled substances around. I remember I went to get a prescription refilled for a controlled substance and the pharmacy wouldn't fill it because it was ONE WHOLE DAY early. They take that stuff very, very seriously.

As long as medical marijuana is as controlled as other substances, I don't see the harm in it. If it helps someone, I'm all for it. As long as it is controlled and used for what the doctor prescribes it for, I have no problem with it at all.

Medical marijuana has very little ability to get you high. It's almost extremely dilluted but left alone enough to act in the way doctors want it to.

You know, it used to be that way...not so much anymore, though...at least, not here in California. While it IS SUPPOSED to be tightly regulated, you'd be surprised at how many doctors prescribe the stuff with very lax standards. I've seen tons of places advertised in weekly independent publications that give out prescriptions, and from what I understand, it's really not that difficult.
It wasn't always this way. A few years ago, a buddy of mine was prescribed medical marijuana in the state of California because of an injury he sustained as an ironworker. I guess he tweaked his back pretty bad, and was a card-carrying user of medical marijuana. He was telling me that there was only one place in the city where everyone had to go....He also said that he had stopped going, because the feds were always across the street, scoping the place out and taking pictures (it was legal on the state level, but illegal on the federal level).
He was also telling me that most people ENTIRELY misjudge these medical marijuana facilities. While most are under the impression that it is some sort of legalized hookah bar...party central...nothing could be further from the truth. Most of the people who frequent these places are gravely ill....in constant pain, and just miserable. They try to make it as comfortable as possible, but for the most part, it is a pretty depressing place to hang out.
Rather sad, I think.

I understand that it can help people, but I am so anti-drug that even hearing the word 'marijiuana' makes me feel sick. So, I'm kind of okay with people using it as long as it's been perscribed and is used only to help people that are suffering.

Yeah, for medicinal reasons, I'm all for it.

No one deserves to suffer.

If it can be stopped or reduce, then do it.

I stopped using drugs a while ago, but I can still say with confidence that if I had my choice, I would rather spend a night with a bunch of ditzy potheads than a bunch of obnoxious drunks. I hate alcohol...I DETEST the stuff!!!! Absolutely NOTHING good can become of it.
I believe in prohibition of both, but if I had to legalize one, it would DEFINITELY be weed.
