Ya know what? If they're in pain, why not let them light up their life.

Try contribute some more.
What is your definition of pain? Physical? Mental? How much pain must you be in?

as far as i'm concerned, using marijuana for medical purposes is just the same as giving a patient vicodin or another pain reliever.

i've never been on pain meds like that before, so i'm under the assumption that they'll all pretty much do the same thing for you.

My view on this is, yes, we all know any toxin is bad. Whether it be cigarettes or just pain killers, anything which pollutes your body and is not natural to your system is bad. How do you think people coped before painkillers got invented? Yes, they got through it. In immense pain, but they got through it. It actually makes me shiver of the thought of somebody preforming a surgery or something without any annasetic.
However, it's the 21st century now and we are very advanced with our medicine and that buying painkillers and whatnot is very simple to do.
My view on medical marijuana is the same on painkillers. Marijuanna has both short term and long term effects, but if you smoke it daily then it's deffinatly going to have a massive impact on your mental health and physical. Good thing it isnt that 'addictive'. Long term substance abuse on Marijuanna can really mess you up, just because it's legal in certain countries does not make it right to smoke it consistantly. It can effect your brain, lungs and heart.
Smoking it a few times... yeah, it's great, whether your smoking it for medical use or for fun. I have smoked it twice and i've never had any problems with it, or never had an 'addictive' urge. If your gonna be experimenting with drugs, just be prepared for what could go wrong, even if it's a somewhat harmless drug like cannabis.
Overall, yes, i'm for it. Nobody should be allowed to suffer and if you smoke it for your own fun, than that's cool. Just don't get addicted to it because it really isn't worth the health risks and money you spend.

But yet you don't have a problem with underage drinking? Alcohol can probably do more damage than smoking pot medicinally (although pot still does have risks), so I fail to see how you can support underage drinking but yet condemn marijuana because it can effect brain, lungs and heart.

Actually, in ancient times they fared pretty well with making pain relievers out of such things as herbs and plants. They didn't "just take it" at all. Many pain remedies were made from poppy, including anesthesia. Many ancient cultures as far 1500 BC have been documented as using cannabis for medicinal uses
Just because they didn't have Vicodin a long time ago, doesn't mean they didn't do their best to stop the pain.

In my opinion, marijuana can only become a psychologically addictive drug, because the user has to get high to escape reality or get through awkward social situations. You can build up a tolerance for it, making you need to smoke an increased amount over time, but there isn't a possibility of "overdose".

Cannabis is usually prescribed to cancer patients because it not only stimulates hunger, it calms feelings of nausea/vomiting. Both of these are huge reasons that many cancer patients become frail and weak, because they are rarely eating due to nausea, but then when they do eat they get sick.
Also, the active ingredient in marijuana, called THC, has been proven to slow the acceleration of the enzymes that cause Alzheimer's.
It hasn't been show to increase the risk of lung cancer, and studies have show that it can actually be used to TREAT lung cancer. Cigarettes are a different story, because they contain all sorts of chemicals and even tar.
It's also been shown to stop the progression of breast cancer through a patient's body.

As for a marijuana user's brain, it can definitely effect memory, but testing shows that it can cause brain cancer cells to regress while leaving healthy brain cells intact.

Overall, marijuana does have some negative effects (I've definitely seen them in my grandmother's memory, because she was formerly a very heavy drug user), but MEDICALLY speaking, tests/studies have shown some extremely great things.

If you read my post, you would know that I don't support underage drinking... but i'm not going to go against people who do. Who am I to judge? And I don't believe that anybody should make your decisions for you but yourself, which is why i (apparently) "encourage" (Ha. What a joke) kids to go out drinking. Also, your argument is pretty unrelated to this topic, if you want to know more about my views, then i'd rather you message me or something.

^It wasn't unrelated to the topic, because I was pointing out that drinking is probably more harmful to your body than taking marijuana medicinally. I was also pointing out a contradiction I saw between two of your posts, which isn't wholly off topic because I wanted to see how you explain the contradiction.

I watched an episode of Taboo about medical marijuana on Natural Geographic a few nights ago. There was this woman in a wheel chair who needed it, I forget why, but if she didn't smoke it, she said she'd probably be bedridden. I think if the doctor thinks it'll help you, then why not? It could make your whole life much more tolerable. And if it doesn't, well then, try to quit it.

Agreed. You smoke it, bfd. Pain killers are drugs too.
I'd rather smoke weed than ever start taking something like opies.
I'm on codeine for migranes. I'd rather take pills because that works better for me
but if people prefer to smoke weed and it works for them, then let them.
