Have you been bullied? How can schools become more involved with the bullying problem? What can parents do to help stop bullying? |

I don't understand why kids have to pick on each other and want to hurt each other all the time. And the worst part about bullying, in my opinion, is that it will affect them later in life. I think everybody gets bullied sometime in their childhood. Growing up, there is always going to be that one dickhead who think he/she is better. They think they have to make others feel bad, just so they can feel good about themselves. I don't think there is much of a solution to help stop it, because it doesn't matter what people try to do, it's still going to happen. Parents can't be watching their kids every second of every minute of every hour of every day. It can't physically or mentally be stopped. The little dickheads are just going to go directly around the rules that may be set for them or the punishment they may be given. Example: Sam is beating up Charlie. Sam's mom catches him beating up Charlie. Sam gets grounded by his mother for one week. One week later, Sam is not grounded. Sam sees Charlie. Sam is mad for getting grounded. Sam go's somewhere with Charlie where they are out of sight. Sam beats Charlie up even worse than before. Sam gets away with it. -- (Fictional characters.) |

Well no- one should have to say that. However I also don't think it's at all fair to blindly look at bullys as the only people at fault. Those who put others down do it to make themselves feel better. The majority of people who bully others do it because they've had a difficult home life, or have been bullied before. And if the victim just lets it all happen, how can they really expect things to stop? I think to stop bullying, really the victim has to say something. They need to talk to someone who can help them sort it out, eg. a parent or teacher, and then they need to settle things calmly with the bully. Really, schools & parents I think do all they can, nine times out of ten the victim is the one who lets it happen. It's so important that they don't just take everything, the more they take the more it will affect them. /this is my view from my experience. |

I think it's horrible that people can have the conscious to treat people badly, or use their size and strength as an advantage or take or destroy a person's things, or accentuate a person's weakness. I might be one of the oldest people on this site and I can tell you, it affects a person for the rest of their lives. There are things you can do to diminish the effects, but it never goes away. I have reinvented myself over and over again over the years.. MCR's message of self acceptance came forty years late for me, but it's not to late to accept myself and my life is changed because of it. I hope young people take this to heart because, you don't want my life. Everybody has value whether they fit in or not. The bullies are the ones who are jealous of YOUR value. Don't reinvent yourself BE yourself. |
