I see it all the time from very rude people. Racist comments are actually very common within my family, which is very annoying. I would date someone from another race. If I really loved that person, then nothing would stop me from being with them. Much of my family would be annoyed, but it's not their decision. The way you look doesn't change who you are as a person. |

Mindfuck Always Born a Crime Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 5614 | just_another_cog:But what if someone had a sexual preference for a certain race, or certain races? I think that's an example of how the way you look in terms of race can matter a lot. In your eyes, does that then mean those who are not attracted to say, Asian people, are racist? Or any other race? I know I have been called racist (or it has been implied that I am racist) because I have sexual preferences according to race (which I won't disclose here). I'm not racist at all, but people sometimes assume I am because I simply do not feel attracted towards certain peoples. |
the desperate ranks. Always Born a Crime Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 6712 | You do have a good point. I don't think it means you are racist just because of your sexual preferences at all. Just because you are attracted more to people from a different race, it doesn't make you a racist. I'm talking about the entire picture - the views from others looking at interracial relationships. Like, if your best friend was white and he/she was dating someone from a different race, it shouldn't matter to you or anyone else for that matter. But from the friend's point of view, you're right - it relies on sexual preferences. |

Beacuse you may be attracted to someone who doesn't exactly look like and that's okay. On the subject of me my biggest celeb crush beside Gerard is Jared Leto and I was made fun for that because I'm black. |

xchemicalx Killjoy Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 11 | This topic really hits me hard because I have delt with it first hand. I was in middle school when a guy in my class was interested in me. I told my mom. But when I told her that he was black she told me it 'wasn't right'. How is it not right? It's bad to be racist and she knows that but she can't accept the fact that I would like someone from a different race? They are just people like us. It pisses me off when people look at black or any other person who isn't white like they are different. They're no different then white people. |
IceHog69 Bulletproof Heart Age: 32 Gender: - Posts: 25232 | I do not think there is anything wrong with being with a person a different race. People are so intermarried that it is impossible to be 'pure-blood' so to speak. Almost everyone in the whole world has a different race in them, so to try to refuse to be in a relationship with someone of a different race, is impossible. I don't think that people get made fun of for being in a relationship with a person of a different race. Or at least I haven't come across that situation. Personally, I can't see myself dating a person of a polar opposite race, ie, black, because I'm not friends with very many black people. Also, I find white people more attractive than black or asian people, therefore, they are likely to catch my eye more. I wouldn't not date someone because they weren't white, just as I'm not going to not date someone because they are ugly, or stupid. If they are nice, and I love them, then I will date them, no matter what color, race or nationality they are. |
blow Bleeding on the Floor Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 1137 | ChipmunkOnKetamine: For me it's the opposite, there aren't any white guys around. Plus I grew up surrounded by people who where something other than white, so I'm more attracted to blacks or asians. |
IceHog69 Bulletproof Heart Age: 32 Gender: - Posts: 25232 | Eponine: I grew up around mainly white kids, which explains my preference, and I don't see a problem with that. I wouldn't class it as racist, because it's something I can't help, like prefering men, or prefering blondes. It's natural. |
Person0001 Always Born a Crime Age: 43 Gender: Female Posts: 5099 | Mindfuck:Yes, I've been told the same, but luckily for me, I've managed to crush on at least one person from every conceivable creed so I'm covered now LMAO |
blow Bleeding on the Floor Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 1137 | ChipmunkOnKetamine: Yep. Although, unlike homosexuality, which I believe someone is born with, race preference seems to me to be a product of what kind of society you grew up in. |
Faye Merci Salute You in Your Grave Age: - Gender: - Posts: 4473 | Eponine: So do I. For instance, when I was younger, the only black kids I knew were this family at my school and they were all very light. I don't think I saw a really dark-skinned person until about 6th grade, when we moved to the city. The result is that I tend to find exceptionally dark people (we're talking so brown they go blue, almost - like in parts of africa.) mysterious and beautiful. |
