Didie, you should do what you feel.
Do you feel like you want to stop that relationship? then stop it! No one can blame you for that, either your "friend", because she knows it's the only way, and she will thank you (i think she won't tell you those words, but in her heart, she will thank you because you had the courage of facing the problem and not hiding behind a fake relationship).
This is a issue than nobody but you can resolve, so don't think over the right choice too much, because a friendship should be something very natural, should come from your heart, not from your mind. So let the instinct speak for you, and leave your friend to her destiny, if you feel to do so. The people who truely love you, will love you even if you show a "different" you.

If you have healthy meals, you don't have to feel bad about eating. I'm not against weight-loss, but I just want you to use the right methods in doing that. Any diet where you're starving isn't a good one. You really don't have to worry about the amounts of food you're eating if they're healthy. You shouldn't deliberately try to eat less just to lose weight, because you'll feel really hungry in-between meals and have trouble thinking of anything else except food. Also, try to eat a variety of foods from each food group, instead of just dairy and fruit.
I'm sorry if I sound preachy, but I just care about you.
