Info

Back for another round of revenge, murder, love, and substance abuse, My Chemical Romance released Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge in June of 2004. Having signed from Eyeball Records to Warner/Reprise, Revenge marked their major label debut.

Revenge continues where I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love left off. The heroes of Bullets are now dead, and start Revenge off in hell. The man reportedly makes a deal with the devil to reclaim his and his lover's souls, in exchange for the souls of a thousand other men. Gerard has frequently stated, however, that the record doesn't stick to the concept very well, and at times has nothing to do with the story line.

The first single released from the album, 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)' was an instant hit, and My Chem's fanbase grew as the video got high MTV rotation. Now a more mainstream band, MCR were able to go onto even more extravagent videos to follow the first; Helena winning numerous awards, and The Ghost Of You totalling $500,000 to make.

Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge was certified platinum in 2005.
