About

Well, I am 29 years old and the Editor in Chief of an online Magazine called CONFRONT. WWW.CONFRONTMAGAZINE.COM.

To use an expression my friend and collegue frequently labels me with: I am always 30 Seconds too late. (For those who are wondering, this has to do with my 4 year obsession with anything 30 Seconds too Mars related and the pun is intended.)

She says this because although I’m normally pretty quick at making jokes and innuendos, I can be a little slow on the uptake when it comes to others doing so. It seems that in the case of my new appreciation for My Chemical Romance, ‘30 Seconds too late’ also applies.

Why exactly did it take me so long to jump on the MCR band wagon? Sure I had heard a few singles; “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)” making my regular play list for a while, but I had never really understood the cult following MCR seemed to be privileged to.

When ‘The black Parade’ was released, it didn’t really register on my radar, taking me weeks to muster enough interest to listen to the first single “Welcome to the Black Parade”. Despite the song making it into heavy rotation on my MP3 player, I once again hadn’t ventured beyond what I had heard on the radio.

Then, this past December I tuned into the live internet broadcast of KROQ’s Almost Accoustic Christmas to see 30 Seconds to Mars who were also performing at the event. II was curious to see what “Welcome to the Black Parade” sounded like live so I decided to stay tuned for their set.

WOW. I saw in that performance the things that had first attracted me to 30 seconds to Mars: the energy, the theatricality and audience connectivity. So now I’m hooked. And to think that with a little willingness to listen to something new a few years ago, (when you work in music sometimes your tried and true classics are all you really want during personal times) I would have found what I was looking for in a band way before 30 Seconds to Mars was even a forethought…

Of course when I asked my friend what she would have dubbed me had I come to be addicted to MCR rather than 30STM, her response was… My Chemical Retard. Guess it's a good thing I only recently became an addict. Wink
