I've been playing trombone for 2 years now...any other boners out there?
Do any of you have extra slide oil cause' I just ran out...

Posts: 33 | July 12th, 2007 at 10:12pm My sister (writergrrl) was 1st chair in jazz band last year, and I was well...4th...but I didn't take band...I took choir (suckz!!) and so I wasn't as good. I'm probably going to get 2nd this year though, because writergrrl is leaving to go off the highschool, and our last 2nd will become 1st and our 3rd will stay 3rd (hopefully) and I'll become 2nd. 4th will probably be one of my friend's boy friend, who is kinda good. Ya.................I have it all planned out............. |

Like, I can get all the positions and timing right, but not my breathing.
I can't get enough air into the damned thing to play notes well, so it sounds all trebley and out of tune. And quiet as well. I probably have the lung resiliency of a smoker.

Just gradually build up your lung capacity. Just gradually hold notes longer and louder and you'll eventually have good sound quality.
I used to be very quiet, but then I joined marching band. Now I can get really loud (my loudest used to be just one f, and now I can reach a triple f easily.  ) |
