I'm not sure what all countries have it, but Canada does. |

My take on it: It is some kind of act of some kind, that makes it able, for underage criminals to be 'protected' from the public, or media.
For example, say a youth committed a crime, like murder, for example, well since there underage in Canada, the Media won't be allowed to find out their names, or personal information about them.

I think that the major reason it is in practice is to protect the kid who perpetrated the crime from the general public. That part I agree with, I mean, the convicted criminals are kids, and any party that feels wronged by them or was particularly close to the victim may feel that they have a right to take a swing at the kid.
One thing I do not agree with, however, is that offences done while underage are wiped away when the kid becomes a legal adult. They could have done one of the most heinous, horrible acts you've heard of, and their record is expunged when they reach adult-hood. I think that is one stupid policy. |

"The court must assume that the young person lacks the maturity of adults"
I'm pretty sure that 13, 14, 15 year old kids who are guilty of pre-meditated murder are fully aware of what they are doing. Each case should be treated differently, not forced to fit through one pre-cut slot. |

Posts: 266 | November 11th, 2007 at 12:40am In England, anyone over ten can be prosocuted, im not sure is its higher/lower in other contrys or states but, if they are fully aware of what that are doing and there is proof to the act they should go to jail. |
