Kate Nash is from London, England. Growing up in Harrow, Kate first got into music during her childhood when she learnt how to play the piano. Her musical talents were harnessed further when she was required to write songs for her GCSE in Music and her time studying at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in South London. Her first love was that of acting and made moves to start a career in acting by auditioning at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School but was rejected for a place. It was in the few days after her rejection that she fell down a flight of stairs breaking her leg. During her recovery Kate was unable to move and found solace for her emotions in songwriting. She began to write some new songs and finished old ones and decided that she would book herself a gig at a local bar to showcase her songs and subsequentally decided to start a career in music.
After a few gigs, Kate uploaded her music to the popular website MySpace. Her music soon began to receive support from users of the site and Kate soon found herself a manager (also through MySpace) and began to look around for producers for her music.
Fellow MySpace star Lily Allen has stated that she believes Nash to be the "next big thing" and has also garnered support from publications such as Vogue and NME, the latter dubbing her as 'chavtronica'.
Kate has been compared several times to Lily Allen due to their storytelling lyrics and dry sense of humour that fuels their songs.

Yeah, Kate is sure to be the enxt big thing out of London. I'd recommend downloading "Foundations". Its really cool.

I'm kinda tired of the whole "oh she's such a Lily Allen wannabee" thing though.
All her music is really cheery even if its got really bitter lyrics lol.

The Nicest Thing is possibly the cutest song (but also the most depressing) I've ever listened to.
And I think I'm going to see her in February :] |
