i write poetry and stories ALOT and i think i want to try to write songs but since i dont play an instrument the tune of it is usually to whatever song i have stuck in my head at that time. So i think i will take up an instrument, but what one? whats a good beginner one?? maybe guitar, or piano, i got long fingers but guitar looks cooler, so what should i do?

Piano is one of the best instruments to learn, especially to start off, because it deals with both of the main clefs (bass and treble) which is great if you're learning to read music. =]

Piano. After you learn piano, everything else is much more simple to learn.

Piano is really the way to go for your first instrument, if you have access to one already.

I'd say learn guitar first if you want to be in a band, cause being able to sing and play guitar is seriously useful.
But if you're not that serious at this stage, go with piano cause it'll give you a better grounding.
