Yeaaah, laugh it up, kids.
Not everyone plays rock music on this site, including me.
And considering I'm not part of the symphony orchestra of my city, I figured this thread is for a different sort of musician. =D
Talk about any ensembles you're in at school, or elsewhere, what music you play, composers, instruments etc.
I play clarinet and just started bass clarinet, and I play in Chamber Group at school. Bach, Tchiavosky (that's spelt sooo wrong) and all that stuff. |

During music lessons in school(primary and lower secondary) we
learnt how to play the recorder, harmonica and had basic
keyboard lessons. |

Age: 30 Gender: Female Posts: 17799 | April 5th, 2007 at 06:45am I play flute in my school band. We do lots of concerts and things as my school is quite big on music.
We play some pretty cool music. We play Bohemian Rhapsoday and the Pirates of the Carribean.
Those are probably the best piece's we play. I like the fact, though, that we get to play some music like that.
It makes it more interesting and not just plain.
I think more people like to come watch us too becuase of it. |

Age: 30 Gender: Female Posts: 4956 | April 5th, 2007 at 04:47pm I play bass in my school orchestra. We're (generally) really good, even though this year I think we sort of suck.
I made the middle (out of 3) orchestras for high school and for a freshman that's pretty good.
It's sweet.
I love orchestra. :]] |

I quit piano after a day lesson due to some personal problems and stupid rash decisions. I REALLY regret it now. |

Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 19598 | April 18th, 2007 at 01:52am String instruments always look fairly hard to play, to me.
I mean, you don't actually have a key to press to get the right note.
It's a bit like guessing. I'm always fascinated by the violinists that play with me. XD
What parts do you all play? First, second, third??
I'm usually a second, with my clarinet. Occasionally first, though. |

Yeah it is usually guess work but most people have tapes on their instrument so you know the general area.
Some people have from 1 tape to how ever many you need.
I have 4 on mine and it helps out a lot.
And afters a lot of practice it's like muscle memory (something like that i can't remember) and it's like your fingers just remember where the right spot is.
Oh and I'm a first violin.
