It definitely exisits outside the limit of adolescents. On the subway to work everyday I see adults reading email on BlackBerries while listening to their iPods, surfing the internet on their laptops and trying to suck down a latte at the same time. There's a guy on my train that even watches porn on a portable dvd player sometimes. Everyone is addicted. Young and old alike.

Please do us a favor and do not post anything such as asking who is online unless you want to get banned(?)

Um can you get banned from doing what "Frustrated Angel" is doing?

and for the topic, Some teens use it for good things such has homework, and others for bad things such as illegal downloading for music/movies

i will admit, you do need technology to a point and we all in a sense fall victim to constantly wanting new technological advances and gadgets that come out.
but in a way, we need the internet nowadays. we need cellphones. an iPod maybe not... but we all have one just about.
it happens.

I would argue that we "need" all this stuff. I grew up without cable tv, cell phones and internet and I was very happy. Life was fine. We don't need it, but we enjoy the use of it and have become dangerously dependent on it.

Yeah i think so...

im homeschooled so im home 24/7... and couldn't live without the internet! i would say i use to it way to much, from the moment i get up to the moment i go to sleep my laptop stays on!

But i think there are some dangers - there are some really bad website out there, like the anoxeric sites, which incourage people to be anoxeric and a load more and should be removed...

But there are good things, like finding out info and connecting with people from around the world... i think its a really good idea... also sites like these, where you can find what other people think on different subjects etc

But anyway i love the internet... and most other teens do aswell, its something to do... but i do think a lot of time is wasted reading tweets on twitter and looking at pics of facebook etc, also updating status etc... But i wouldnt stop doing it lol Very Happy

Technology is cool. But we should learn to use but be immune to it. Y'know, just remember your limits and all that. Do other stuff as well.

Technology hates me Razz but i quite like it. I have my share of computer addictions but am hopefully on top of them. I think that a lot time is wasted on technology and people to tend to live their life by it, but having said that without it we'd be pretty much screwed so it's a tricky one

We need it just as much as kids in Victorian times played with their skipping ropes and tossed hoops onto sticks and that thing with the ball, string and cup etc. Just because it's electronic, doesn't mean it's a bad thing.
I've been playing computer games for as long as i can remember. Since we first got a Sega Megadrive. I must have only been about 5. Nowadays, i use the computer for about 4 - 5 hours, then watch tv for 1 - 2, depending what's on. Non-school days i'm on all day (unless i'm at work).
And it hasn't ever compromised my education. I got 4 As and a B last year.
People who use computers and do no studying wont do well in exams. People who play football and do no studying wont do well in exams.
People who draw all the time and do no studying wont do well in exams.
See my point? It isn't technology that's compromising education, it's the kids who are compromising their education.
