Well now this could be the last of all the rides we take
So hold on tight and don't look back
We don't care about the message
Or the rules they make
I'll find you when the sun goes black

And you only live forever in the lights you make
When we were young
We used to say
That you only hear the music when your heart begins to break
Now we are the kids from yesterday

All the cameras watch the accidents and stars you hate
They only care if you can bleed
Does the television make you feel the pills you ate?
Or every person that you need to be

'Cause you only live forever in the lights you make
When we were young
We used to say
That you only hear the music when your heart begins to break
Now we are the kids from yesterday

Today
Today
We are the kids from yesterday
Today

Here we are and we won't stop breathing
Yell it out 'til your heart stops beating
We are the kids from yesterday
Today

'Cause you only live forever in the lights you make
When we were young
We used to say
That you only hear the music when your heart begins to break
Now we are the kids from yesterday
We are the kids from yesterday

TO ME
it's about living in the moment, and never shedding a tear about what happened yesterday.

I always felt like this song was about the fans and the band.
How mcr went through a lot of things and so have the fans. How we once were in the past, and how we are now in the future.
It's about how you have be free of everything and live your life.
How all your mistakes, regrest, all the laughter and everything that happened to you made you who you are today.~

I think the song is about the band moving on from the past and shedding their dark exterior/messages and trying to encourage their fans to make the transition with them. "When we were young, we used to say that you only hear the music once your heart begins to break, now we are the kids from yesterday". Seems like they're trying to send the message that all great music isn't built upon pain. Which seems to be a philosophy they might have followed in the past.

I think its about renewing themselves.
When they started the band, they were in love with it.
Then the did the black parade, and the loved it, until it got so hard to sing baout death everynight, when they were all really enjoying life. Now they are the kids from yesterday, falling in love with their work again.
"We don't care about the message
Or the rules they make"
They dont really care what the media, or even the fans have made them out to be.
"Here we are and we won't stop breathing"
Kinda anti black parade. They arent about death anymore.

^ They never said that TBP was about death, did they? They said it was a celebration of life and people took the dark imagery too seriously and thought that's what it was about.

^ don't be naive. They say a lot of things. They had a song called DEAD on the album about DEATH. A song called CANCER on the album about DEATH. I don't take anything they say in interviews seriously because they tend to let criticism shape their responses.

i think its about finally growing up, hence the ' we are the kids from YESTERDAY' its a metaphor yesterday meaning years ago like, we have grown up since then ! and that llife isnt all what it seems and even though you ned to grow up you still have to have that small hint of childhood inside you to get through life

also i heard someone that either this song or one of the others songs on dangerdays was dedicated to bandit (gerards daughter) so if it is this song, it kinda makes sence Smile

At their gig in Manchester last Friday before Gerard played this he said "This goes out to all the parents and grandparents tonight" so i think it is sort of a tribute to the last generation? I don't know, just a theory Smile

I believe this song is about themselves growing as a band. "All the cameras watch the accidents and stars you hate. They only care if you can bleed." That line, I feel, describes themselves in the limelight.

To me, this song means a lot about the past and how once it's gone, it's gone and if you made a mistake then, you can't let it stop you from living in the moment. "When we were young we used to say that you only hear the music when your heart begins to break, now we are the kids from yesterday." Obviously someone went through some heartbreak and I think that they're trying not to let it get the best of them.

This is about MCR realizing they have changed since their first album in their musical and personal lives, and that they are just letting everyone know that change is okay.
