Thursday's Child Bleeding on the Floor Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 1324 | I agree with most of you, it's very hypocritical when you don't vote yet complain and what not. In our last election, a referendum was on the ballet to basically ban specific rights for couples in civil unions, in most cases, gay and lesbian couples. now, my teacher was talking all about how it's wrong and it's getting rid of all couple's rights if their not married and it's unconstitutional. and then the next day we found out he didn't even go and vote. I was disappointed and angry that he wouldn't even want his voice heard when he had such a strong opinion...even if it wouldn't of mattered in the long run. Our founding fathers went through so much to make a style of government so that everyone can be influential in it...and although you have the right not to vote, I don't see why it would put you out so much... |
ThisVanityImBreaking Thinking Happy Thoughts Age: 28 Gender: Female Posts: 430 | I think voting is important I live in Australia and you have to vote once you've turned 18 People complain saying they don't want to vote because its stupid! Well its not it is extremely important So i think every country should have a law saying you have to vote. We got the right to vote and people are complaining its to much work when all you have to do is go to the place where the voting is held and vote! Not to much work is it! |
DeadlyPoisoned Bleeding on the Floor Age: 39 Gender: Female Posts: 1633 | Voting is important but I also think its stupid..I dont like Politics I hate everything it stands for I'm staying out of this thread lol.I just wanted to say I hate politics. |
miss girl. Banned Age: 30 Gender: Female Posts: 3022 | I dont like polictics either, but voting is still important. But I think that the age you have to be should be lower. Maybe to 15. Cause it's the younger people who will have to deal with the decisions that are made. |
Feel What You Feel. Bleeding on the Floor Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 1422 | I think that if you don't vote you can't complain about government issues. So many people complain about people in government offices, but they don't vote. I think the voting age should be lowered because then younger kids could have their say in who is in office, which is very important because it affects them too. |
DeadlyPoisoned Bleeding on the Floor Age: 39 Gender: Female Posts: 1633 | I use to make a big deal of voting but I do thinks its important I'm still not registered and honestly i dont wanna register because I dont wanna deal with Jury Duty.... |
ilovegerardway2much Jazz Hands Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 353 | i think its very important to vote because one vote can change everything. |
Casimir Pulaski Day Shotgun Sinner Age: 94 Gender: Female Posts: 8861 | I think it is very important to vote for your leader. Even if you think that one vote doesn't count, it does. It counts when 20 million other people think the same thing. If you aare not happy with the way your current leader is running your country, then you should vote for somebody with whom you agree. If you complain, yet do nothing about it, then maybe you shouldn't be complaining. |
emo drama queen Salute You in Your Grave Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 3415 | But can i ask something? Why do u need to be 18 to vote? |
Fezzik Salute You in Your Grave Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 2748 | Little kids can't come close to fully comprehending politics. Adults can. Legally an adult = 18. Personally I don't think lowering the age to 16 would be so big a deal, but obviously a four year-old shouldn't vote, nor a ten year-old, and so on. Young teenagers political views aren't usually very developed; they get most of their ideas from home. A person should be educated enough in the issues to make their own decisions to vote. Thirteen year-olds almost never are. Oh and no chatspeak on the Discussion Board. =] |
CyanidexDeath Jazz Hands Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 365 | [quote="Mud"]This has been touched on in a couple of threads, so I thought I'd start a thread. Do you think it is important to vote? I think it is important to vote. it allows us to have an impact Have you voted before? And will you vote in future? Why? i'm not 18 but i will vote in the future because its my duty and i can make an impact Do you feel that your vote makes a difference? Yes and No. in presidental voting, i feel that my vote doesn't make a difference because of the electoral college and hhow they make the final decison. but in my town i do feel that i make a difference. thats because at town meetings i saw how the people really do get to vote. What can be done to influence more young people to vote? i think that more and better adds should be shown about voting. also there should be programs that talk to young people about voting and show them how it makes a difference. |
Demonic. Motor Baby Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 788 | I think the voting age should be 16. Obviously, little kids shouldn't vote, but I think it's important. Up until you're 18, and a legal adult, you have to watch the world go on without you being able to influence it. Little kids have to watch car bombs explode in Baghdad, teens have to watch homophobes talk about how gays are going to hell... I'm not happy with the Bush administration. And because I'm too young to vote, I've had to watch a lot of s**t happen that I don't want. |
Ice-Cold Flames Killjoy Age: 30 Gender: Female Posts: 29 | Mud: I think it is important to vote but not as important as people try to make it seem. No, i have not voted and quite frankly the little i know about politics is quite small and boring so i don't plan to vote later in life unless i know more about politics. if I did vote, i wouldn't think my vote would make a difference because i probably wouldn't vote MAKE VOTING EASIER TO UNDERSTAND, i know that me and my friends don't want to vote when we are older because we don't understand voting or what we are voting for or politics, so if the government made politics slightly simplier to understand then more people would vote because you wouldn't vote unless you knew what you were voting for so if we understood what we were voting for then we would vote keep in mind this is coming from a 13 year old so take this with "a pinch of salt" whatever that means..... |
Fezzik Salute You in Your Grave Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 2748 | ^Understanding about politics is going to come up and bight you on the nose. Like anything, it takes effort to have any sort of grasp on what's going on. You just have to decide whether you're the sort of person who cares what's happening and wants to effect it, or whether you're happy just leading your own life and seeing what comes. |
iamnotok Killjoy Age: 29 Gender: Female Posts: 31 | i think it is important to vote sometimes........... some votes are not eve n counted and if that information was not out i would have thought it was very important......... i am only going to vote if i do not like the other person running then i would vote for the other person but if i like someones ideqas alot i would vote for that girl/guy ..... if i do not care who wins i would not vote |
Demonic. Motor Baby Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 788 | Yeah, you're gonna have to end up understanding how your gov't works at some point. The fact that there's still countries where people cannot vote means that yu're lucky to have the privilege of voting. You should use it. |
Oooh Hit It Again! Joining The Black Parade Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 188 | I think it's very important to vote. In this country, we're each given a small amount of power in helping our country. I say: USE IT!!! But first, do your research. If you don't know anything, keep your hands off the ballots because they effect an entire nation. |
