(i looked around but i didn't find any...)

basically hazing is a part of ritual in fraternities/sororities/groups that are usually performed as some sort of 'baptism of fire' to the newbies or pledges. well, you already know this shit so....

1. do you think that hazing should be continued, seeing that it has been a ritual or tradition among certain groups and organizations?
2. do you believe that schools and colleges must have stricter rules regarding this matter?
3. who is reliable in case something terrible happens (ie, deaths,injuries...)? the fraternities/sororities or the pledges? (seeing that it was their decision to join the said group?)

No one should have to be physically or emotionally hurt intentionally to join a group. That's not the point of the group itsself, I'm sure.

As for wther or not it a tradition should be stopped...

marrying at age 13 used to be tradition
bleeding people who were ill used to be tradition
slavery used to be tradition.

get my point? Just because people have been doing it for a long time doesn't give them the right to do it any longer.

Well said. Smile

Hazing is all very well in theory, but in reality it promotes bullying. Humans are humans. Everyone falls prey to occasionally taking advantage of someone else's vulnerable position. But when it is a whole group against one, it gets really ugly. (pure bullying, really.)

Making a noob eat wasabi sandwiches is one thing. Making a noob stick his/her head in the toilet is quite another. In concept: same thing in different degrees. In reality: whoaaaa.

Gee wouldn't approve. that in itself almost seals it for me. Neutral

1. do you think that hazing should be continued, seeing that it has been a ritual or tradition among certain groups and organizations? hell no, it takes lives, but in a sence its unaviodable

2. do you believe that schools and colleges must have stricter rules regarding this matter?no, people find ways around the rules. The US Naval Academy, believes hazing when your a pleab sorts out the worst and best and has said to increase things such as self esteem, endurance and stuff like that

3. who is reliable in case something terrible happens (ie, deaths,injuries...)? the fraternities/sororities or the pledges? (seeing that it was their decision to join the said group?) it truely depends one end can go way to to far

1. I recently saw a special on hazing and my jaw drooped.
Some of the stuff was just insanely cruel.
I remember in the navy, they made this one guy take all the night shifts
and he ended up shooting himself.

2. We like the plebes in the naval acadmey have to do a lot of crap but the really harsh, harsh stuff isnt allowed. I live near the acadmey so they like go out running in really hot weather with like sweatpants and long leave shirts (all black i think)

3. The leader of the group i guess.

I don't think that hazing is even necessary. What's the point of joining a sorority or fraternity if you have to go through hell first? Schools should monitor the sororites and fraternities closer so they can stop the whole hazing thing.

I think it's ridiculous that people have to go through something like physical or emotional abuse just do join a club, or social group like a sorority.

1. do you think that hazing should be continued, seeing that it has been a ritual or tradition among certain groups and organizations?
no. It was traditional to have slaves, but people had to stop that. Tradition has nothing to do with it. If you are harming a person, then you need to stop. It isn't right. You can call it what you want, initiation, whatever, but it is still basically hurting a person for the sake of doing it.

2. do you believe that schools and colleges must have stricter rules regarding this matter?
yes, they should, because then when people are caught doing things like that, then can have a stricter punishment, and it may possibly act as a deterant

3. who is reliable in case something terrible happens (ie, deaths,injuries...)? the fraternities/sororities or the pledges?
you mean who is to blame? the fraternaty/sorority is, imo. The pledge just wants to fit in somewhere, and join this group. It's the people who design what has to be done that are to be blamed. they should know that doing push ups in mud whilst someone smashes flaming neon tubes over you is going to be dangerous, and might just kill someone, and they should be sensible not to force someone to do it. I don't think the pledge should have to be responsible for injuries to themselves, unless they said, okay, I'll do that, rather that not knowing what they have to do. In that case, I think they are both responsible.

Mindfuck:
If you have to go through that much shit to get into the club, then it probably isn't worth getting into in the first place.
