"In just a handful of years, the vines have experienced the highs and the disarming lows of a band twice their age. Their 2002 debut highly evolved struck like a fire storm through the international charts. Various music publications legitimised the hype, claiming the vines as the saviors of rock in the dawning years of a new millennium. During the time that followed, the vines toured aggressively, released two more albums, and weathered the hurdles that accompany a sudden rise to fame. This year, the vines deliver melodia, their fourth studio recording."

Oh Christ, I didn't realize they were still together! After Craig was diagnosed, they stopped getting press, so I assumed they weren't recording anymore. Me of so very little faith, huh? I will definitely have to look up their last two albums, I've always enjoyed their work. Their music sounds like the Beatles on a Cobain-sized dose of heroin, very hazy yet psychedelic.

Craig kind've does sound like Cobain, that's probably why I like them so much.
I didn't know Craig got diagnosed with something though! D:

craig has asperger's syndrome.
he was diagnoised a little while ago, and went into therapy for it,
and that is why the press died down etc.
and they didn't get as much hype after that until melodia.

OMG!
I really really like them!
The first song I heard from them was "Get Free", and its still one of my favorites (: The lightning sutff in the video are cool.
One of my friends actually played that song from them, and from that moment I started to like them. Thank heaven he played that song for me.

Hmm.
I saw their "Anysound" video on youtube about 2 years ago - the video with the clay animation.

They're pretty good, I guess.

THE VINES – OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2008

Following on from their incredible recent performances at this year’s Fuji Rock and Splendour In The Grass festivals, THE VINES are pleased to announce that they will be embarking upon their first full length national album tour in over four years this coming October and November in support of their brand new long-player, “Melodia”.

After their many well documented trials and tribulations, no one really had the right to expect to find The Vines in such rude health in 2008, but with the release of “Melodia”, the band have come full circle, recording their best album since “Highly Evolved” and playing the finest live shows of their career. Anyone who has witnessed the bands’ incendiary sets at Splendour, Homebake or Big Day Out over the past two years will attest to the fact that as a live force they are now nigh on unstoppable.

“We can’t wait to get on stage and do it properly for all of our fans ” says singer Craig Nicholls “We feel really good about the live show at the moment, and now with four albums to pick the set from its going to be great to change the show a little bit every night. Let US entertain YOU.

With this being the band’s first full national tour since 2004, and the band in the best health and live form of their career, expect tickets for The Vines to sell out immediately.
