I checked for this, but because it can come under a variety of names (I checked quite a few) I may have missed it, so if I have, sorry. "/

Anyway, private detectives, investigators, whatever you want to call them.
Hiring someone to 'spy' on someone/a group of people. It can be used in a variety of situations - to check if a partner's cheating, someone's behaviour, business deals. Anything someone wants finding out.

Do you think they should be allowed legally, or is it to much of a violation against our privacy?

What's your view on them?

Yes, it is a bit imposing, but they can be used for good reasons, and if it will help you trust a person more, then it can be a good thing. There is always the problem of misinterpreting things that have been seen, which can result in uncomfortable situations. sometimes they can be useful, like in the Madeline McCann case, where they may actually find the kid.

I think with regards to spying on partners, you should at least be able to trust them not to cheat, and you can't trust them enough to do that, then you probably shouldn't be with them.
