No, wait.... an alligator. ^ I can see Frank as something really wild and energetic-- like a playful otter, dolphin, or monkey-- since he always jumps around when he plays. That stripe around Gerard's face has always reminded me of a racoon... or he could also be a cute little puppy. And then whatever Gerard is Mikey has to be because they're family and it wouldn't make much sense if they were two different species... but I do like the idea of Mikey being a wise owl. Ray would be one of those fancy breeds that you see on the dog shows on the Animal Planet, with lots and lots of hair and fluff. And Bob is really quiet, so he'd be Cubone from the Pokemon games. Why Pokemon? Because I said so.
