A Sharp Life Banned Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 322 | MTV played the "Helena" video 3 times every hour and they won everything they were nominated for, well maybe I'm exagerating, but I remember it was crazy. I guess my real question is do you think that "The Black Parade" will get as big and that MCR will take over airwaves and magazines again? I definately think so, actually I already am noticeing so much MCR, but it may just be because I am looking for it. What do you think? |
Raven of Azarath Salute You in Your Grave Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 2572 | It's good for their career if they do, obviously, but I really don't want that to happen again. >_< Too many people who are just in love with their looks. |
suica Killjoy Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 76 | Yeah...I'm kind of unsure about it. It's good for their career...but I'm still thinking that they don't need such fame...I mean, great band succeed even if they're more underground (bullets for my valentine, autumn to ashes...). I think in a way we just want to keep them for us...their true fans? no? Cause I really get pissed of when I see some girl acting like if they were old fans and if they were knowing everything about the band...and in fact they just know: I'm not okay, find the singer cute and don't even know the lyrics! I'm also a bit scared that they have bad publicity (like in the uk...I don't remember exactly the paper neither the article) or anything like that... I just feel like it would be cool that they stay a really good band and that there is no more mcr explosion... That way I guess it would be less stressful for us! haha! |
bring more knives. Demolition Lover Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 19376 | i think it'd be possible again. and i think i don't want to that they'll be that huge again. cus if every 10 year old kid listen them and know one song from them, it's just annoying. knsegpsegki i can't express myself now. some one maybe know what i mean.. or not. |
Gerard Way. In the Cannibal Glow Age: - Gender: - Posts: 53288 | yes. my internet friend from asia told me that MTV in her place had them in some sort of 'artist of the month' thing and played their music videos every hour, everyday, and special MCR programme EVERY saturday. she said its a huge phenomenon in her place that even people in their 30s and 40s started to listen to their song. for the record, i posted upcoming mcr tv appearence in Mtv asia pacific in TV appearance thread(Band news section). credits to lela. |
~Frankie'sGirl~ Killjoy Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 47 | I think there will probably be another My Chemical Romance explosion. This is good and bad. It's good that they will be getting the loads of recognition they deserve for doing what they do. However, its bad that there will be a lot of faux-fans who are in it for the trend/ Gerard's good looks. |
The Hitcher Bleeding on the Floor Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 1633 | ~Frankie'sGirl~: totally agree |
Chemical_Romance Salute You in Your Grave Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 4465 | I think The Black Parade will give My Chemical Romance World Domination and, I believe that by mid 2007, they will be the biggest Rock band to ever walk on this Planet. They sure as hell have one of the hugest [[and tightest]] Fanbase ever known. |
Chowder Motor Baby Age: 56 Gender: Female Posts: 794 | I get a little scared sometimes..... When i hear they are getting big... But im happy for them... its just that.. I dont want to get upset over some stupid poser teenies because there have been alot in my school saying that they love MCR yet they dont know dip about them or their songs... You know? |
jerseyxxkid Jazz Hands Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 264 | My school is the worst. I started a new school in Manhatten, I just moved, and everyone was so into R&B and rap and hip hop, and I tend to stay away from those genres I don't get along that well. But since MTV and VH1, more people are coming up to me thinking that immediately I'd like the people who like the same music I do. Even though in the beginning of the year they made fun of me for likeng music like that. But I'm glad the band is being successful. :]] |
Chemical_Romance Salute You in Your Grave Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 4465 | Emily Is the Chaos!: Their success scares me as well. I'm very worried about them. I don't think it'll go to their heads, I just hope they can cope. Especially Mikey. I'm really worried about him. I couldn't sleep last night cos of it. |
madame angst Salute You in Your Grave Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 4551 | Probably. There will be new fans, for sure. And I think the only way for them to keep succeding[sp?] is to reinvent themselves. But that's also risky...because they will lose fans, as they gain more popularity. I hope My Chem gets the attention they deserve, but it would be sad if they had "MCR" t-shirts at Wal-Mart 20 years from now. |
A Sharp Life Banned Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 322 | Wow din't realize how many people thought the exact same way I do. I agree with almost everybody! Me and my sister have always talked about this and i figured that people on here would appriciate it. |
gibbsie del toro; Killjoy Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 58 | I agree with you guys. I love the fact the are getting the attention they deserve but a selfish part of me wants to keep them a bit obscure; just so I can go "Hey, have you heard MCR? They're frigging awesome." And I'm worried that theres going to be a Behind The Music scenario where everything buggers up. They were close to that with the second album; who knows what would happen if it goes tits up now. Saying that I doubt that Gerard to revert back to what he was; he's not stupid enough to do that. I want them to be mainstream for their benefit but I want them to be indie for ours :/ But the second explosion has happened. The fact they get played on Fizz next to people like Cascada (a shitty dance band) & 50cent now is a sure sign of it. I'll remain loyal no matter what |
gibbsie del toro; Killjoy Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 58 | P.S. Fake fans aren't a threat. We could kick their arses anyday |
noxx Thinking Happy Thoughts Age: 33 Gender: Male Posts: 534 | They are in the BLENDER issue, I just bought it right now. |
dream brother Jazz Hands Age: 41 Gender: Male Posts: 320 | ~Frankie'sGirl~: not to be an asshole but your user name is frankiesgirl do you just like them for frankies looks? half the time when i go on the chat room on this site people are talking bout how hot frank and gerard are there seems to be so many younger kids getting into them which is to be expected as they seem to be the flavor of the month i guess in australia we'll see how popular they are when they tour here next jan that will make or break em in this country if they can put in some great shows they will get a lot of publicity and pretty much explode as they dont seem to be totally huge in this country quite yet |
StonyPony Jazz Hands Age: 37 Gender: Female Posts: 385 | I'm not sure. There could be, but I think The Black Parade as an album is less marketable than Revenge. Of course, most of us will tend to think there's another explosion, but we have to keep in mind that it may only seem that way. 1) Since we like My Chemical Romance, we're going to take more note of one of their videos getting played than, say, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, when in fact one of their videos may be getting more air time and we just don't notice as much. 2) People know, many times, that we like My Chemical Romance, so when they hear something of theirs that they like, they'll come tell us because it's common ground. 3) Most of us are exposed to only a limited number of people, so we can't accurately judge their popularity in the population as a whole. Also, people tend to form relationships with people who have similar views, so people tend to think that their views or tastes (i.e., a sudden renewed interest in MCR) are shared by more people than they actually are. That said, a second explosion is not out of the question, and they have had a sudden surge in popularity. I just don't think they'll ever be as big as they were right after Helena/I'm Not Okay. |

Mother War Banned Age: 30 Gender: Female Posts: 1470 | i agree with like all of you i always wanted to keep mcr like to ourselves, to their real, true fans that respected them; bought their music and liked them for what they did and what they taught not, as you are all saying, just because they are mainstream, or because they have a hit, or because of gerard's looks... I heard them on KIIS fm my radio station that plays rap/hip-hop/pop... i was like wtf? but i just got over it. but i think they wont be as big as they were during that time of Helena too :] EDIT: I hope that made sense... o.o |
