I quickly looked through but couldn't find anything similar already. Sorry if I missed it.

Do you think it's fair that celebrities are constantly being watched by the paparazzi? Or do you think it's pathetic that the paparazzi will do anything to get that million dollar shot?

Do you think there's a connection between the actions of some of the celebrities today and what goes into the media about them? (i.e eating disorders, late night partying, substance abuse, relationships etc).

Honestly, do you think it is at all neccessary that we know where Paris Hilton partied last night, who Josh Hartnett is dating, or what Nicole Richie didn't eat?

Not neccessary. But for most people, really, it's quite entertaining to read about other people that they know exist. That's why more people read Stuff magazine than fictional books.
This is something I can't explain, as I find it idiotic and boring myself, but there is money in it. So I can't blame the paprazzis.

It's all in the life of the famous. They should expect it. They worked for fame, so they got it. It annoys me how they moan about the papparazzi following them, but they are happy when they're scoring multi million pound/dollar sponsership deals.
They can't have it both ways, their fans are obviously going to want information on them, so the paparazzi give it to them.

Most of these people who don't eat, party late
nights, snog a different man each week, They're all paid.
Most of them would just prefer to stay at home and watch corrie
if you ask me, that's what I would do!

Another thing, I simply despise how the paparazzi can't respect other
peoples privacy and insist on thinking that it is 'essential' that we know
what is going on in the celeb world. Actually, most of us couldn't care
less if Paris Hilton made up with Nicole Richie, or had sex in her
best mates garage. I thought there was more important things for
the media to address, such as poverty and crime.

Edit// Change the name to something like Celebrities
and Fame, at first I thought this was just a n00b thread =]

I hate the whole thing. i really think it is pathetic that these people will chase down people just to get a wierd picture or a picture of them kissing someone. Its just annoying to see all these articals about "so and so is Anarexic" or "shes Cheating!!!"

Id say its a waste....there are more important things.

There are so many much more important things to worry about rather than "NICOLE RICHIE - SKINNY CELEBS TO THE EXTREME" or "LINDSAY LOHAN - THE SECRET SELF HARMER AND HER SECRET SHAME" or whatever.

It's a waste of the trees!!!

Okay, i really think that if some celebs are having actual problems the Paparazzi should just stay out of it. They are putting more stress on the person and quite frankly I dont care if someone has problems. Everyone has problems. We need encouragement not the stress of everyone knowing.

I am going to use a celeb example. Britney spears. She isnt all there at the moment and i think life would be a hell of alot easier if the Paparazzi just stayed out of it. She needs family help not pictures and stories written about how messed up she is. but yah thats just my opinion.

Celebrity worship and obsession and fascination is natural and has been going on for as long as human beings have been around. The difference is now there are paparazzi around, and much more of a loss of respect for famous people.

Hmm I don't know...

Example: I tripped on my way to school today. Ouch.
Britney Spears fainted from her severe anorexia today on Elm Street. She was airlifted to hospital. The dolctors reported her as delerious. Apparently, she began screaming, "I tripped! Let me go!" Updates will be posted when more information is gathered.

So I tripped. This star tripped and people thing shes deadly sick.

Papparazi are sure annoying, they are there to capture all your worst moments, and writers are there to exxagerate.

Please don't judge me on my opinion!

Whats really bad about having the paparazzi around them all the time is that; celebrities are people too, so they must have insecurities about their appearance.
If I got a pimple on the day of my formal, I would be so pissed, but I would get over it.
If a celebrity gets a pimple, people take photos and put them in magazines and on the internet, zoomed in on that one little thing.

And what about when Paris Hilton was 'beaten by her boyfriend'?
Man, if I was in an abusive relationship, I would not want anybody to know about it. I would be so ashamed and embarrassed. Everywhere she went people came up to her talking about it.
She must have been so emotionally unstable.

I find it annoying, most of it is all lies anyways.
I don't really see the point in celeberity gossip anyways, although I do admit it is quite interesting to read sometimes.
But we're pretty much just over examining other peoples lives because they are at a higher level in society then us.
We're all human and we all do the same things.

Honestly, if Joe is going out with Bob instead of Sally, I don't care.
If Ben is eating grilled chicken instead of crispy, I don't care.
If Alice was caught in a hooded sweatshirt and pajama pants instead of designer fashion, I DO NOT CARE.

These people are just that. People. They have their faults. My dad smoked pot as a kid. It wasn't all over the tabloids. My mum still keeps up with one of her ex-boyfriends. No media people are skulking in our rosebushes.
Honestly, people will do anything to have their nose in someone else's business.

They should know what they are getting themselves into. it doesn't give people the right to harass them, chase them down in their cars, or anything like that, but they should expect it. Most of them put the attention on themselves. Lindsay Lohan has even admitted to loving the attention. She said she would be worried the day people don't want to take her picture anymore because it would mean they don't care about her. Talk about personal issues...

At the start of their career, celebrities need the paparazzi to advertise who they are and what they do, so celebrities should be thankful to the paparazzi for putting them in the starlight.
After that, the paparazzi follow them beacuse they have beome the stars they always wanted to be and they get paid to either find that million dollar shot or catch them at the worst. All in all, being the paparazzi is a job and they need to do their job to feed their family.
There is however a fine line between doing their job and harrassing the celebrity causing them to do dangerous things to avoid the cameras. Without knowing it, what seemed to be a job became almost murderous as chasing cars could lead to cars being run off the road.

We, as normal people cannot say much, as many of us crave reading about the lives of celebrities and watching them slip up. We are the ones forcing the paparazzi to go and grab the infamous shot. We must be held responsible for some of what is happening to the celebrities

Celebrities don't need the paparazzi. And I know that the fear of celebrity gossip is keeping my sister from pursuing a career in singing. It isn't fair to them as people. These are people are amazingly talented (well, most of them), who are using their talents to entertain us. We could at least say thanks by showing some respect and giving them their privacy. I mean, isn't gossip awful enough is high school? Why would anyone want to continue to inflict that on someone into adulthood?

i have mixed feelings about celebrity gossip. if stay a celeb you know that your going to be watched so if your an actor that is planning to make it big you know its coming so stop complaining, its yir fault. but some people cant control it, thier parents put them in it when their 2. it is their fault if they stay of drugs or dont have an eating disorder you are never on covers. you never see scarllotte joehansen(i know i spelt it wrong. sound it out) or jessica alba on covers for wrong reasons.

I miss the days when being a celebrity required skill. When people here famous because they did something like singing or acting with amazing talent... not dropping 5 dress sizes by eating as little as possible...
I am glad to just see actors by the characters they play, not by how hammered they get on a night out, or the lack of underwear.
And what about these famous people's kids? Didn't one photographer get arrested for assulting Reece Witherspoon's kid (or her kid's friend)? When family is involved, paparazzi should stay the hell away.
I mean, who can blame someone for protecting their child? If a celebrity attacked a photographer for getting in their (or their family / friends) faces, they are painted like the "bad guy"... but isn't the photographer guilty of stalking? Invasion of personal space?

I think when it comes to celebrities, we talk about them too much. People need to focus on other things.

Yeah, Paris Hiltons in jail.

Yeah, Lindsay Lohan's in rehab.

It's like, "OMG SHE'S IN JAIL!" or "OMG SHE'S IN REHAB!" or "OMG SHE FLASHED THE PAPARAZZI!" is all you see in headlines

Don't we have other things going on? Like Darfur and Iraq? But Darfur and Iraq don't flash their vaginas, so I guess they're not important
