Because I think it's obvious that instead of dying, they'd find some really creepy way to kill the three guys that have been torturing people that come into the city. And since there's a brother and sister in the movie, Mikey&Gerard can be those two!
Or even Ray, Bob, and Frank could die and it'd be Mikey and Gerard left, like how it happens in the movie.
